February 7, 1927 - July 10, 2019

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt on July 10, 2019, after a life that was well lived.
Peggy was born and raised in St. Vital, attending Norberry School and Glenlawn Collegiate. After graduation, she worked as a secretary, until she married her husband Al, in 1949. They started their family the following year. Peggy was the best mum any kid could ever have, armed with an endless supply of love, patience, understanding and support. She was a dedicated parent, who was always involved with the Home and School Association, and was always in the stands at basketball, baseball and hockey games (cheering quite loudly), and in the audience at concerts and recitals. Caring for us all kept her busy from morning til night, yet the cookie tin was always full.
Peggy returned to work outside the home in 1968, working in the insurance industry until she retired in 1990. She was a lifelong member of Greenwood/McClure United Church, playing in the handbell group, serving on the UCW and volunteering countless hours of her time to help others in any way she could. She loved to feed the birds, she loved to listen to music and she loved flowers, whether they were in her garden or were coloured especially for her by the grandchildren and then the great-grandchildren, who were more precious to her than words can say. She loved to be outside and spent many happy hours in her front porch, where she would read, keep in touch with family on her ipad, or just enjoy the scenery and watch the world go by.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband Allan Findlay in 1972, her sister Marjorie Gydé in 2010, her brother Flight Lieutenant William McPherson in 1944, and her parents, George and Margaret McPherson, in 1979 and 1967, respectively. Left to miss her are her children, Bruce Findlay (Hélène), Pat Lysenko (Victor), Rick Findlay (Louise), Margaret Young (Howard Robson) and Ross Findlay (Leanne); her grandchildren, Cory Findlay, Adam Findlay (Gillian), Alissa Trelka (Bobby), Paul Findlay (Correne Omland), Alexander Lysenko, Jessica Young (Daryl Mellquist), Courtney Young (Eric Methuen), Graeme Findlay, Michael Young (Shauna), Mac Findlay and Brenna Findlay; her great-grandchildren, Aiden Pearson, Sean Podperyhora, Emma Findlay, Colin Findlay, Ashton Omland-Findlay, Charlie Trelka and Sarah Trelka; and her many Findlay and Gydé nieces and nephews.
We always knew we were loved and we know how lucky we are.
To honour her wishes, a private family service and interment has taken place.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To the Findlay Family. I was saddened to hear of your mother's passing. She was a truly a kind, caring person. I have very fond memories of her when I was a teen hanging out at your home and later on jn life. I still have a teacup and saucer she gave to me to remember her by. I know you will miss her but she will live on in your memories of the wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Yours in friendship, Gale Freeman - Posted by: Gale Freeman (Friend) on: Jul 31, 2019
