HILDA NORMA MEDD

"What a sad finish to a wonderful, happy, much-loved early and friend-filled, successful life," (Mom's words when she realized she had the onset of dementia six years ago).
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Hilda Norma Medd (Beyak) peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the age of 94 years.
Hilda was predeceased by her husband Peter, her parents, George and Nellie Beyak and brother Alexander. She is remembered by her son Dr. Tom Medd and granddaughters, Sandra, Colleen and Julia; son Bill (Jane), their children Natalie (Tyler, and their two grandchildren, Everly and Fraya), Patrick (Kirsten), and Maggie.
Hilda was born August 23, 1924 in Winnipegosis, graduated as a Registered Nurse and proudly worked in that role in Calgary, Flin Flon and Snow Lake. She and Peter retired and moved from Snow Lake to Dauphin where they lived until Peter's passing in 2001. Hilda then moved to Winnipeg to be closer to her family.
She loved curling, was a voracious reader, and always had time to sip on a rye and Pepsi while besting all challengers in cribbage. Hilda stayed close to her friends through her active letter writing and enjoyed staying in touch with pictures and notes.
A special thank you to the Charleswood Care Centre staff for their care, attention and compassion during Hilda's final years.
In recognition of the love she had for her cat, Elvis, and in lieu of flowers and in remembrance, please send donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
A private family remembrance will be held in lieu of a funeral service.
