MARION (JOYCE) BOWLER-MAXWELL
Joyce was born on a cold Saturday evening on the Bowler homestead in the Pembina District of Kaleida, south of Manitou. She was always proud that she came into this world in the same home that her Dad did. She was the only child of Elwin and Ethel (Rinn) Bowler. Her mother predeceased her in 1989 and her dad in 1991.
Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her parents-in-law, Lillian and Ted Maxwell; brothers-in-law, Delbert and Craig and sisters-in-law, Melba, Doreen and Bernice and the father of her children, Thomas T. Marsh.
Joyce received her education in the one-room school of Pembina Crossing and Manitou Collegiate.
As a young person she moved to Winnipeg for her first job at the Head Office of Singer Sewing Machine. She moved to Portage la Prairie in 1957 and has resided there ever since.
Joyce was born to shop and she loved dancing. She loved nature and her collection of carved ducks was extensive. She loved her pets to no end.
Joyce enjoyed her last months looking out her front windows viewing the ducks, geese, walkers and dogs.
Joyce loved her family unconditionally who will remember her with affection forever. She spent her life putting others' needs before her own.
She will be missed by her loving husband of 50 years (married in Las Vegas, February 17, 1969), Danny Maxwell, her daughter Terry Kleemola, grandson Tyson (Vanessa), great-grandson Kyle and great-granddaughter Kaybree, grandson Liam, granddaughter Tanya Kleemola; daughter Beverley Case, grandson Edward Case and granddaughter Karen (Nap) Case.
Funeral service conducted by Mr. Bill Chiponski will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in River Road Gospel Hall, 350 River Road, Portage la Prairie with a reception to follow. Interment will follow the reception in Hillside Cemetery.
The family respectfully request no food or flowers at the home.
If friends so desire, memorial donations to Portage Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), 121-12th Street N.E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 4A2, would be appreciated.
