CAROL LYNN KESS
1943 - 2019
She was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Bessie Schultz and brother Gordon Schultz. She will be cherished and sorely missed by her husband of 53 years, Robert, their children, Kelly (Zdan) and Kevin (Jo-Anne), and her grandchildren, Jamie and Lindsay. Carol will also be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Clarice (Wayne) and Heather, sister-in-law, Olga Schultz and the many nephews and nieces she had.
Carol was born in Winnipeg on August 7, 1943. She spent her childhood years in Dryden and then moved back to Winnipeg as a teenager. While working at Loblaws in 1959, she met Robert and they married in 1965. They moved to Transcona to raise their family. A loving mother and homemaker, Carol was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. A favourite thing to do was going on cruises and travelling to Florida.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Yamashita and the staff on the 4th Floor Cardiac Unit. A special thanks to Ahmad, Jamie, the nurses and health care aides that cared for her. Everyone showed such compassion to her over the last six weeks of her life. It will be forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
At her request, there will be no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a future date. Make a donation to

Bob, Kelly, Kevin and family. We have so many fond memories of our many years on Brighton Court and of your family. We were away most of the summer and did not know that Carol had passed until we ran into another neighbour today. We are so sorry to hear of her passing, and although late, we send our sincerest sympathy and love to all. - Posted by: Cindy and Scott Naherny (Neighbour) on: Oct 29, 2019

Dear Bob, Kelly, Kevin and family, our condolences go out to you at this difficult time. Carol did indeed light up a room with her quick wit and wry sense of humour. Although she was a natural comedian, Carol always had sage advice and a sympathetic ear to lend. We hope that your loving memories of Carol will bring some comfort, peace, and strength as you mourn her passing. Love from Olga, Cheryl & Ken Smidt and family, Lisa & Rico Elvina, and Dale Schultz - Posted by: Lisa Elvina (Niece) on: Aug 06, 2019

Auntie Carol, I’m glad I got to see you as often as I did but that was definitely not often enough. I miss seeing my aunties and mother getting together and having a great time. I’m very sorry you had to leave your family so soon as I know how they feel to lose a great mother. Uncle Bob, Kelly, Kevin and families my deepest sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Growing up, Mrs. K was one of the most special people I knew. There were to many times to remember the nights Kevin would have a dozen or so people over to watch movies, play crib, and “pre-game” before going out. Mr. and Mrs. Kess would always be welcoming, and often times join in. She was rough around the edges, but her warm heart was always there too. My sincerest of condolences to Mr. Kess, Kelly, and Kevin, all the rest of the family. God Bless. - Posted by: Jonathan (Friend of family) on: Jul 28, 2019

My deepest sympathy to the family. I remember some great times working with Carol. She had smile and a very unique laugh. I worked off and on with her doing cooked ham packing. Carol was a hard working woman and a person with a heart of gold. I am glad she was a person whom I had the chance to meet and have some great memories working with her. Bob, Kelly, Kevin and family, I so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife and mother. There is barely a childhood memory of mine that does not include you all... I was blessed to have known Carol...Auntie Carol. Watching Kelly and Kevin growing up, babysitting all those New Years Eves so Mom and Dad could go out and celebrate with Bob and Carol. The time spent at the Club, backyard BBQs. Carol was always fun, upbeat, sometimes silly but tough when she needed to be. Yes, she was a very good cook! She was there, always offering a lending hand to Mom. A family function was not complete without Bob and Carol being at the next table...graduations, showers, weddings, baby showers and retirements. Losing my Grandparents, Dad, Niece and Mom... I will forever keep my fond memories of her close to my heart and smile at the mention of her name. My condolences to you all, Gena Philpott and Family - Posted by: Gena (Pearson) Philpott (Longtime family friend) on: Jul 27, 2019
