LORRAINE NATALIE SCOTT
1933 - 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Lorraine Natalie Scott, of Saskatoon on July 22, 2019.
Left to mourn are her daughter Donna Scott, son-in-law Keith Yamauchi, and grandson Graeme Harrison (Kimberly Dykes); her son Randy Scott and daughter-in-law Joanne Keeping; her son Gregg Scott, grandsons, Ryan Scott and Hunter Scott (Lucy Phares) and granddaughter Berkeley Scott; her sister-in-law Iris Ernst, as well as nieces and a nephew; and her dear cousin Evelyn Rasich. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Lorne and Dolly Ernst, and her brothers, Melvin Ernst and Merle Ernst.
Throughout her life, Mom was strong and courageous, as well as gracious and elegant. She was dignified to the end, even in undignified circumstances. Mom was intelligent, hardworking and determined, attributes which served her well when she found herself as a single mother raising three young children. She completed her education, took a business course and secured employment with Saskatchewan Social Services, where she worked as a secretary and office manager for 21 years, until her retirement. Mom took pride in herself, her home and her garden. She was always beautifully turned out, her home was lovely and welcoming, and her garden was meticulously groomed. In recent years, she became an avid Riders and Blue Jays fan. She enjoyed the company of her friends, many of whom were long-standing. Above all else, Mom's life revolved around her family. She was devoted to making a happy home for her children. She supported and encouraged our endeavours at school and followed our careers closely. Mom had a very special relationship with each of her four grandchildren. They looked to her for advice, support and unconditional love, which she provided in abundance. Mom was happiest when surrounded by family at our many get-togethers in Saskatoon, Calgary and Winnipeg. One of Mom's special projects was the writing of a family history book "Our Heritage", which chronicled the lives of her ancestors as far back as the late 1700s, and continued with her life on the farm south of Plunkett, where she was born and raised, through to the present day. Mom's book was so well researched and written that we had it published. It remains a treasured legacy for our family.
At Mom's request, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Garden.
We would like to thank the wonderful women at Nurse Next Door for their kind and gentle care of Mom during these past months, as well as the compassionate and attentive doctors, nurses and volunteers at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Paul's Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the "Close to Home Campaign" for Hospice and End-of-Life Care, in care of St. Paul's Foundation, Saskatoon or at ClosetoHome.fund.
