MARIA CATHARINA VLAMING
(nee SLIKKER)

Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, July 26, 2019 to be with her heavenly Father.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Pieter of 63 years and her seven children, Bill, Marion, Jo-Ann (Henry), Dick (Brenda), Peter, Paul (Kathy) and Adrian (Jen). Oma Vlaming will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Amelia; Carl (Danielle), Angela (Patrick), Crystal (Neils), Edward, Rena (Stefan); Jon (Jayna), David (Chloe), Joel, Benjamin (Randi); Lea, Kelly (Lars), Alana; Corey (Lauren), Melissa (Brody), Miranda, Macey; Tori; Brody and Sophie as well as her great-grandchildren, Izabelle, Emma, Max; Preston, Malcolm, Evangeline, Henrik; Alex, Hayden, Lucas, Jireh; Olivia, Henry, Josie, Jake, Olsen, Noah; Leif, Laec; and Scarlett. She is survived by her two sisters and two brothers: Gre', Dick (Anne), Nellie and Leen (Hennie), and was loved by her many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Ijmuiden, Netherlands on January 8, 1932. Maria met Pieter on Christmas Day in 1948 and married in 1954. She worked in an office at the Hoogovens for a short time before they immigrated to Canada to make a better life for themselves. Maria loved being at home raising her children and taking care of many other children also. She still had time for her church, being in bible studies, being a Calvinette leader, setting up bus tours for the seniors and fundraising. She always had a present for somebody. But her favourite thing was providing a small "Parcels for the Truckers" on Christmas day. She always will be remembered for her passion to share her faith in Jesus Christ and she was always looking out for others.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Concordia Hospital and St. Boniface Hospital for the loving care that they showed Maria and her family in these last few weeks of her life. We are truly grateful!
A celebration of Maria's life will be on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., Covenant Christian Reformed Church, 653 Knowles Ave. A private family interment was held at Sunnyside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Canadian LifeLight Ministries.

of the Lord forever."
