Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
Jim Weiss was my boss in the industry from 1989 to 1995 in the work I continue to do today. He was patient and kind and considerate. He took great pleasure in seeing others succeed and was always teaching others how to be good at what they do in the insurance and investment business. He always gave me time to review what I was doing and what was going on in his regional agency in Wpg. He helped me succeed because he was a caring person who took great pleasure in others being the best they could be. I owe a lot to Jim Weiss and I learned a lot from Jim. He was my mentor for 6 years at the start of my career. I think he was an unbelievably incredible person. He dealt with things now not later and worked hard for sales people in the field at GWL. He always said that what we do helping others was significant and mattered. He enjoyed gatherings of colleagues. He truly loved a good story. He was very competitive and never liked someone who gave up. I remember that he always wanted to understand why in almost every situation he encountered. He was a real manager who worked situations that were difficult to a successful solution. He was an incredible manager, fantastic mentor, friend and a colleague. Above all he was a driver of success who never gave up. Personally he was simply a great person. I will never forget the input and the help Jim provided me over the years beginning my career at Great West Life now Canada Life. I believe he was and continues to be the best manager I have ever worked with. Not everyone loved Jim but everyone respected him. Some of the most important early lessons I received in business came from my friend and boss Jim Weiss. Lucky me to have known and to have been trained in the business from Jim Weiss. Rest well Jim. You covered a lot of ground in your life and managed hundreds of people over all your years in the industry. Job well done. Thank you and my condolences to Diane and the whole family. Dear Diane, we just recently learned that Jim has died. We were both shocked and saddened to hear of his passing, even though we knew that he had experienced many serious health problems. His ability to cope was an inspiration to both of us. We will miss many enjoyable evenings we had with you around the bridge table. We are sorry we are in the east and cannot attend his service. He was a gentle man and a great partner. We played bridge every Thursday for years and he always exhibited patience and kindness no matter whether we finished top or bottom. There was only pleasure to play and a “see you next week partner”. I shall miss him - Posted by: Glen Sutley (Bridge partner) on: Jul 30, 2019
