MAURICE CHAYCHUK
September 4, 1931 - July 23, 2019
"The life of the party!"

Maurice passed away suddenly and quietly in Winnipegosis.
He was predeceased by wives, Ella and Agnes; and survived by wife Doris; and the children from his first marriage, Joan (Vickie, Linda-Ann and Keifer), Arlene, Mary Ann (Mark), Alan and Patricia.
Maurice was born in Ethelbert and as a young man loved playing baseball and hockey, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He worked for a number of years with CN Rail, which took him up to Thompson in the early days of that community. He became employed by INCO and spent the balance of his working career running the Traffic department. In the north, Maurice was able to indulge in his love of the great outdoors and spent many happy days camping, hunting, fishing and playing sports. He was also involved in many service clubs in Thompson, including the Elks, ANAF, the Legion and Rotary, and was selected to be Rotarian of the Year for his service.
In retirement, Maurice moved to Dauphin with Doris and continued involvement with the Elks, Rotary and the Legion. An important part of his life revolved around activities at the Dauphin Senior Centre and cheering on the Dauphin Kings hockey team. He participated in the Society of Seniors games, and proudly represented Manitoba several times nationally as part of the floor curling and card playing teams. Right up until the end of his life he was a Toronto Blue Jays fan. He was in his element and loved nothing more than getting together with friends and playing cards into the wee hours of the morning, sharing many jokes and laughs.
A private interment for immediate family took place on July 29. A Celebration of Life event will be held on September 4, 2019 at the Dauphin Senior Centre from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please come and share remembrances of Maurice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dauphin Senior Centre or to Diabetes Canada.
