JESSIE DROHOMERESKI

Jessie passed away surrounded by her family on July 31, 2019 at the age of 97 years.
Our beloved Mom, Baba and friend is survived by: her son Philip (Lois) Drohomereski and daughters, Deanna (Cec) Pringle, Victoria (Peter) Midtdal and Eleanore (Randy) McMahon, son-in-law John (Donna) Pawlychyn, niece Louise (Dennis) Corrigan, grandchildren: Shannon (Michael) Harrison, Marla (Sean) Barr, Craig (Julie) Pawlychyn, Ryan (Georgia) Drohomereski, Devin and James Midtdal, Justin, Aaron and Shaylyn McMahon, Preston, Gannon and Garrett Corrigan, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Michael (1992) and beloved daughter Janette Pawlychyn (2004).
Mom was born in the Kreuzberg Municipality (Fraserwood) in 1921 and when she married Michael Drohomereski in 1940, they eventually settled on a farm in Foley and later moved to Teulon.
Mom was above all else, devoted to her family. She was a supportive and loving mother and wife but the love and pride she felt for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was immense and limitless.
We will forever remember: her love of cooking, Sunday suppers, gardening, dancing, playing cards, travelling with her children and grandchildren, her special birthday cards with a little something tucked inside, and visiting with many family and friends. Her door was always open. She was a very strong believer in her faith and spent many hours volunteering for church activities and functions.
We are fully beholden to the tremendous staff at Holy Family Home, St. Paul's Unit, who loved, laughed with and tenderly cared for Mom during her final four years.
A funeral divine liturgy will be celebrated by Reverend Father Alan Wizinsky on Wednesday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St., Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment will follow at St. Stephen's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Pleasant Home, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Holy Family Home.

  • Jessie was a wonderful person, we should all be so lucky to know someone like her. I really admired Jessie's love and loyalty, to be a caregiver to Janet in her final days, which allowed Janet to stay in her own home till the day before her final day with us. Hearing all the stories of upbringing from Jessie's other daughters, ie. Deanna, Eleanor and Vicky were so similar to our own upbringing, one couldn't help but feel like all one family. Our sincere condolences to out to all the Drohomereski family. - Posted by: Kathy & Ross Kidd (Family once removed through marriage of John and Janet Pawlychyn. I (Kathy) is John's sister. ) on: Aug 05, 2019

  • Will greatly miss my Godmother and Aunt. She always allowed spoiled me and didn't discipline me when I screwed up. Showed us all lots of love and made the greatest cabbage rolls and perogies. A very kind soul who has gone to be with her brothers and sisters and her husband, Uncle Mike. - Posted by: Brian Dyck (Nephew) on: Aug 04, 2019

  • I knew Jesse growing up as a boy and came to know know her through Victoria and her family. She always showed poise in situations presented to her by a growing family. I remember an early morning visit that a few of us paid to the house and the grace with which she cared for a small motley crew. Always a lady "and a Lady always knows when to leave". Condolences to all family members. R. - Posted by: Richard Hathaway (Friend of her daughter Victoria which grew to mean friend of the family.) on: Aug 04, 2019

  • Auntie was always someone with a smile and food on the table for everyone to eat. Auntie always had stories about our family. I loved the relationship she had with our Mom, her sister. A very beautiful person and one who will be missed. My condolences to our cousins. Love Louella, Dan, Christopher and Andrew and Edward. - Posted by: Louella Haslip (Aunt) on: Aug 03, 2019

  • We moved into our home in 1985 and Mike and Jessie were our backyard neighbours then. Greatest backyard neighbours ever. We always felt we were another part of a huge family and were included in a lot of family functions. Our Kids, Alan and Andrea, adopted them as another pair of grandparents. Jessie will be truly missed by your family. Sincere condolences to all. Bert and Kathy - Posted by: Bert and Kathy Campbell (Friends) on: Aug 03, 2019
