EDMUND HARTEL
April 7, 1928 - August 1, 2019
He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Edmund and his siblings, Alfred, Bruno and Edeltraud. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Ursula of 66 years, his daughter Birgit (Norm), his sister Rosemarie, nephews and extended family in Germany.
Eddie spent his early life years in the former Sudetenland, Germany. Several years after the end of the Second World War, he met his wife Ursula, and in 1955, they left to start their new life together in Winnipeg.
Eddie was a butcher by trade and worked at The Bay Downtown Food Mart for 35 years. He and his lifelong friend Sig were well-known and loved by their many regular customers.
Eddie was a true outdoorsman and spent many happy hours in nature, fishing and hunting. Above all, he loved his family and celebrating happy moments with them and his many friends. We will all remember his bright smile and know he cherished his special moments with each of us.
Our heartfelt thanks to the first responders and all staff at St. Boniface Hospital, Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare Manitoba.
A celebration of Eddie's life will take place on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4477 Main Street. Interment and a private family gathering will take place at a later date.
