September 27, 1936 - August 1, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carole, at Riverview Health Centre, on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the age of 82 years. Carole faced her battle with cancer and Alzheimer's with strength and her ever-present grace, which endured, even through the most difficult times.
Left to mourn Carole's passing are her children, Sharon (Grant), Bradley (Bill) and Douglas (Darlene); grandchildren, Hailey, Hunter and Justin; sister Thora; sister-in-law Sandra; brother-in-law Bill; and a great many nieces and nephews. Carole was predeceased by her husband, Capt. Don Moyse; mother Thora Badger; sister Sandra Jones; brother Bill Badger, and special family friend Terry.
Carole was born and raised in Winnipeg, coming from a large family and humble beginnings. She married the love of her life, Don, in 1960, and they had three children.
Without question, the most important aspect of Mum's life, was family. This included both the family into which she was born, as well as the exceptional friends she met along her journey. One such friend was Mrs. Inge Shaw, with whom Mum had been a friend and neighbour for over 50 years. Mum loved passionately, and was always there to help us work through problems, invariably in a fair manner.
Mum was a remarkable cook, evidenced by memorable feasts at Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and birthdays - somehow, miraculously prepared by only one woman.
Another illustration of her cooking expertise, was shown when she would prepare from scratch, homemade Chinese food at midnight at the lake!
Mum's faith played a prominent role throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Michael's and All Angels for decades. More recently, Mum enjoyed the services at Riverview. The joy of fellowship helped Mum through difficult and challenging times throughout her life. Mum can rest now, and walk amongst the angels.
Mum had a great sense of humour, was very witty and sometimes surprised us with her sassy comebacks. She loved doing crossword puzzles (in pen!), playing bingo, doing crafts, and was a voracious reader. Mum cherished volunteering, and did so at St. Amant Centre, as well as with the church's outreach programs. Mum also adored her dachshunds throughout the years - Heidi, Tess, Domi, Taffy, Newey, Marco and Ruby.
She leaves us with a legacy of kindness, compassion, empathy and love, to help sustain us during this incredibly difficult time.
A service in celebration of Carole's life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue in Winnipeg.

  • My sincere condolences to the Moyse family. I have many wonderful memories of Carole. So elegant, caring and witty. I enjoyed many of Carole's delicious meals and birthday cake (with money inside). Carole went out of her way to make others feel special and she will be in my heart always. - Posted by: Brenda Southall (Friend) on: Aug 09, 2019

  • Carole and I went to school together from grades 1 through 10. We were always late, having to run most of the way. I visited her home many times and knew her mom and siblings. We bought our first pair of high heels together when we were in grade 10, and went out to show them off. We always remembered this and had a good laugh. Although we moved away from Winnipeg, we kept in touch. The family may remember visiting with us in California when we lived there. The last time I saw Carole in Winnipeg she was in the process of selling her house and moving on. She told me that she had loved once, and there was enough love with Don for a lifetime. She was devoted to her family and cherished each one of them. She was a beautiful person, and I will always remember her as a great friend. - Posted by: Roberta Hallett (Friend) on: Aug 08, 2019
