DEREK RICHARD GOSEK
May 10, 1972 - August 4, 2019
Derek leaves behind to honour his memory, his children, Kate Lynn Gosek and Chad Richard Gosek, parents, Richard and Gwendolyn, sisters and brothers, Darla, Jared (Carly), Shawn, Tara (Dennis) and Lonnie (Newton), numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunties and uncles. Derek is predeceased by his brother Chad Jeremy, paternal grandparents, Peter and Maria Gosek, and maternal grandparents, Minnie and Eric Paul.
Derek attended the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School in Selkirk where he excelled in computer science. His aptitude for all things electronic and mechanical made him the person to call when you were searching for answers. Many of his friendships began with calls for his computer advice.
Derek had many interests throughout his life, including his love for cooking and making smoked meats which he happily shared with the people in his life. He read voraciously and searched online giving him the ability to discuss many areas of interest. Derek's greatest love was reserved for his two children who he considered as his greatest accomplishment in life. His adopted pet, Emma, was his close companion.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Health Sciences SICU for your care and support.
A ceremony celebrating Derek's life will bring together family and close family friends at his childhood home on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

Dad, I miss you a lot. I cry a lot when I walk into your room and look around at what you've left behind for us. I cry for Emma and Chad, since you won't be around for our birthdays, family celebrations, holidays and much more. I still remember what you liked on your sub at Subway, or your Slurpee flavours. We're both trying to get further in life without you, but it's hard. It gets sad quite often when me and Chad tell each other our little daily achievements, since we have no one else to make proud. But somedays, I hope that you are watching over us and smiling upon us, cheering us on, wherever you may be.
