NORMA CHRISTIE
October 13, 1940 - August 8, 2019
Norma is survived by her children, son Mark, wife Charlene and grandchildren, Mikaela, Matisse, and Cole; daughter Lisa, husband Gary and grandson William; and son Stephen, wife Sandra and grandchildren, Sara and Alexander.
After growing up in Scotland, Norma left seeking adventure and came to Canada. Shortly after arriving in Winnipeg, Norma met the love of her life Keith and they raised their family here. Norma spent her career employed at the Health Sciences Centre as a lab technician in the cyto-genetics department. She was very committed to her work and her co-workers. Even after retiring, she continued to work there on a part-time basis. Norma was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She cared deeply for her family and her greatest joy was spending time with them. Many great days and evenings were spent at the Christie home on Victoria Crescent enjoying the pool, great meals, conversation and family time together. A lover of books and the Arts, Norma enjoyed book clubs and attending the Winnipeg Symphony, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Manitoba Theatre Centre, Prairie Theatre Exchange with Keith and friends and family. Always looking to help travelling colleagues and friends, they opened their home to many as they passed through Winnipeg. Keith and Norma were great travellers themselves and visited many countries during their years together. They were able to claim that they had visited all seven continents.
The family would like to thank the many relatives, friends, and colleagues for their visits during her last days. The family would also like to thank all staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, Victoria Hospital CancerCare, and Riverview Health Centre for their exceptional care.
Flowers are gratefully declined, but if you wish, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society may be made and would be appreciated by the family.
She will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Christie was a very kind-hearted, intelligent, and thoughtful woman. Mrs. and Dr. Christie were incredibly special people who knew me since birth; they taught me how to walk the Dr. Christie “duck walk” and I spent many childhood days in their pool, where I lost one of my baby teeth going down the slide! That’s what family is all about and I am so grateful to have had these two people in my life. Mrs. Christie was a wonderful neighbour to my Oma, and even now I still smile when I drive down Victoria Crescent and think of our families and the treasured memories I have. Our family is thinking of yours at this very difficult time. With love, E - Posted by: Erica Pflug (Family friend) on: Aug 19, 2019

Our sincere condolences to Mark, Lisa, Stephen, and your families. Mrs. Christie, as we always called her until she insisted on "Norma", was a steady influence in our lives. She was a wonderful friend to our parents, Marian and Jim, and a gracious hostess. I remember many, many afternoons at the poolside and she kindly welcomed our children as the years went on. We will all miss having her in our lives. - Posted by: Margaret Haworth-Brockman (Friend and past neighbour) on: Aug 12, 2019

My sincere condolences to the Christie family on the loss of Norma. I had just been thinking about her and that I hadn't been in touch for a while. Now I've lost the opportunity. I always enjoyed our chats particularly after Keith was no longer able to communicate well. You are in my thoughts at this difficult time. - Posted by: Nan Christie (cousin to Keith) on: Aug 10, 2019
