MARIE THERESA CRAIG
March 19, 1928 - May 30, 2019
Our very loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at her care home in West Kelowna, BC, on May 30, 2019.
Theresa was born March 19, 1928 to Emilienne (Berthelette) and Frank Coulombe in St. Boniface Hospital and was raised in Transcona with her seven (predeceased) siblings. Theresa was predeceased by her devoted husband of 51 years, Leslie Hill Craig in October 1998, granddaughter Jessica in December 2000 and great-grandson Jessy in January 2015.
She leaves to mourn her family who cherished every moment with this lovely lady of warmth, laughter and integrity, her daughters, Eileen (Henning) Puge, Laurie (Graham) Craig-Taylor; and son Leslie Craig. As well, brother-in-law Harry (Margaret) Craig; grandchildren, Kelly, Kristian, Jennipher, David, Michael, Jaiden; and step-grandchildren, Cheryl, Tina, Mieka, Julian; several great-grandchildren; cousin Rose Marie; many nieces and nephews.
Theresa was a gifted singer and spent her teenage years to retirement actively singing at weddings, funerals, as well as in the Blessed Sacrament choir with also being the leader for many years. After returning to complete Grade 12 as one of the first adult students at age 40, Theresa enjoyed working in the Transcona School Division for over 23 years as a para-professional. She was also a 50 year member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL), serving in different rolls including president on both the local and Diocesan Councils. She was also an active member and volunteer at the Blessed Sacrament Parish until Theresa and Les moved to Calgary in 1997 to join Laurie and Graham in new adventures, and then on to West Kelowna in 2010. Theresa loved to sing, dance, read, cook, play cards (at the Tuscany 50+ Seniors Group in Calgary) and do puzzles, travel and photography before Alzheimer's took her on a different path along life's journey.
The family wants to thank staff at The Village at Smith Creek, and Victoria - personal care aide - as well as our friend Cathy for the loving care and respect they gave to Theresa throughout the last years.
Funeral service to be held 10:00 a.m., Friday. September 13, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Parish, 710 Roanoke Street, Transcona (Winnipeg) MB. A lunch will be held at Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall following the service. Interment to lay Theresa to rest alongside her husband Les will be held at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 24223 Township Rd 242 (17th Avenue SW and Lower Springbank Road), Calgary, AB on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Details of the lunch will be emailed to family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba to assist with programs dedicated to this debilitating disease.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)
Theresa has been a part of my life for what seems like forever. As a relative of the Everton Family and a favourite teacher for my youngest brother Jamie, we started out as acquaintances. That blossomed into a closer connection when Theresa and Les became neighbours with my family on Lornhill Road. The parallel development of a friendship with Laurie and Graham drew me to a more personal relationship with Theresa. What a lovely, intelligent, strong and yet gentle individual. She asked for so little and gave so much. I will always remember her loving spirit as she faced challenges in her later years. Although her compassion for life has come to an end, she was blessed to have Laurie and Graham by her side. My very sincere condolences to Laurie, Graham and Theresa’s family. Laurie, Graham and family. So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I know these past years have been trying for you but your devotion to your dear mother has always been admirable. Cherish the memories and now she takes her place by your father as another loving angel to watch over those left behind. She was an accomplished, wonderful lady. Hugs, prayers and condolences to all. - Posted by: Sharon Skiehar (Family friend) on: Aug 14, 2019
Sincere condolences to your family. I have many memories visiting Auntie Theresa & family in the little brown house with my cousin, Carole, as we were growing up in Transcona. She had such a wonderful infectious laugh. - Posted by: Erynne Glacken (Friend) on: Aug 13, 2019
