On Thursday, August 8, 2019 Jerry Searcy passed away suddenly at the age of 49.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Ashley, Evan and Hailey; father Gerry (Jackie) and mother Lorraine; brothers, Garth (Bonny), Geoff (Noy) and Jason; parents-in-law, Thomas and Mary; sister-in-law Sian (Johnny) and brother-in-law Kefin (Ravi), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Nina (Matilda) Searcy, Alf and Sylvia Lester, uncles, Ken, Barry and Mark, and aunty Georgina.
Jerry enjoyed spending time at the lake with his mom and family. They always played cards on a Saturday night. Over time, Jerry's mom named him "2 pair Jer" because no matter the size of the pot, Jerry would always win or lose with two pairs. Jerry was always there to help his mom out at Star Lake regardless of how busy he was.
Jerry worked on and off at Searcy Trucking from 1982 to 1999. Jerry started at Searcy Trucking at a young age helping his dad in the yard placing dunnage down for lumber and marking lumber to separate the customers.
Jerry always wanted to drive a forklift and loader and eventually his dad said okay. He excelled and was quickly able to take care of the yard on his own. He also excelled in computer skills in the office to show his dad he could run the place and he did.
In 1999 his brother Geoff asked him to come over and work with him and Jerry thought that it was a great time to expand his talents. He was responsible for the offsite sales which allowed him to travel all over Canada. He used his computer skills to set up all of the IT equipment needed to make each sale successful and he was always the first one called to troubleshoot any computer issue.
Jerry and Helen met through work in 2000 and became fast friends. They would work together at various sales and he would always let Helen drive his big red Dodge truck. After many years of friendship, they married in 2005.
Jerry also began his new company Tooltown, in the same year. He enjoyed being his own boss and worked hard to expand the business.
Life became a lot busier for Jerry as he became a father to three children, Ashley, Evan and Hailey. He loved being a father and enjoyed being with his kids. He would brag about them any chance that he got. He enjoyed reading to them, skating with them, singing with them in the car and especially helping them with math homework.
Camping had become a huge part of his life and he was so proud of his new RV. Jerry and his family had recently explored the East coast of Canada, as well as Niagara Falls and Wisconsin Dells. His favourite parts of the trip were eating a lot of lobster, go-carting with the kids, driving the RV and sitting around a campfire.
Jerry enjoyed golf and loved taking Evan to the local driving range. He also loved the Winnipeg Jets and never missed a game.
Jerry was an amazing father, husband, son and brother. He will be deeply missed by many and has left a hole that will never be filled.
