LAURICE MARIE LAVALLEE

On Sunday, August 11, 2019 Laurice Marie LaVallée (White Eagle Feather Woman) lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones. She's with her Granny now.
Laurice was born on May 5, 1971 in The Pas, Manitoba and has lived in the Winnipeg area all her life. She was an Educational Assistant with the Louis Riel School Division and worked one-on-one with children who needed her special support. She will be missed by many.
Laurice cherished her family life and spent summers with the children at their cottage at Albert Beach.
Laurice is survived by her loving husband Denis Gobeil; her precious children, Natalie Rose, Denis Rene Jr. and Melanie Rae; her mother Jackie Lavallee; stepfather Clément Bédard; sister Danielle Bédard (Michael Draven); brother Joël Bédard; special nephew Benoît, and her long-time best friend Marcie Taylor (Kelly Taylor). She also leaves to mourn her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff team, especially the nurses, in the ICCU at the St. Boniface Hospital for their extraordinary care and support.
There will be no service but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to CancerCare Manitoba or make a donation of precious blood with the Canadian Blood Services.

  • Although I only met her once at the girls' grad dinner, my daughter Gabrielle spoke of how kind and sweet she was and how she enjoyed her time at there cottage. May your mom was so proud of you, and just beamed with joy when speaking of you. The world is a darker place without your mom's fabulous and infectious smile. Your family is in our prayers. I have put tobacco down for her as she begins her journey back to the creator. Bless you all during this dark time. - Posted by: Dawn Nowlin Youngbird (Daughter is a friend of Nat’s ) on: Aug 15, 2019

  • I am so very sorry to hear of Laurice’s passing. I was lucky to work with her over the last two years and even luckier to call her a friend. She really was the person who lit up a room by just being in it, and the loss of her will be felt deeply by anyone who knew her. She always did her best to make the people around her feel special and cared for, whether it was bringing in food to share, providing clothing and care supplies for families in need, or arranging a little birthday party for someone who may have otherwise felt forgotten. I was privileged to receive my spirit name with Laurice and know how much this ceremony and her culture meant to her. I always appreciated her sharing her stories, wisdom, and kindness with me; and will miss her terribly. My deepest condolences to her family- she always spoke of Denis and her children so fondly. Your wife/mama was a wonderful person and she loved the heck outta you. Xo - Posted by: Robyn Brown (Co-worker) on: Aug 14, 2019
