RUTH OLIVIA POITRAS
(PRUDEN) (nee LLOYD)
January 6, 1922 - August 15, 2019
Mom was predeceased by her parents, her seven brothers, her dear daughter Valdean Gail, and many friends and extended family members.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Wayne (Kathy), Terry (Heather), Pamela (Bert), her special granddaughter Sherri (Dave), who she raised and thought of as a daughter, many grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.
Mom's strong spirit and determination (and her youthful disposition and looks!) were admired by all and an inspiration to many. She was kind and gentle, always putting the needs of others before her own. Everyone was greeted with a smile and a kind word, and usually some of her delicious cooking or baking for which she was renowned.
We extend our thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff in the Palliative Care Program and at the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit who all provided outstanding care to Mom. Also thank you to the many people who visited or telephoned Mom and kept her and us in their thoughts.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Mom to the Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Program that cared for her or to Siloam Mission, an organization to which she regularly donated.
Your smiles brighten any moment,
Your hugs put joy in all my days.
Your love will stay with me forever
And touch my life in precious ways.

My dear Aunt Lib was a very caring person she would always greet u with a smile and laugh, I have gotten most closer to her in past couple years. She was a fighter and amazing woman. She will live in all of us who knew her. It was a honor to have her as a Great Aunt or like she would say She must be getting Greater and then laugh. But she was Great and I will always love you and miss you and you will always hold a special place in my heart and other. Rest in peace Aunt Lib - Posted by: Kristine closen (Great niece ) on: Aug 24, 2019
