MARY H. CAUGHLIN
(KIENE) (nee MOLDOWAN)
August 28, 1935 - August 16, 2019

Mom left this world peacefully, and surrounded by love, on August 16, 2019, at her home in River Park Gardens.
She was so kind and loving throughout her life, no matter what was dealt to her. The daughter of Ukrainian immigrants, she had a strong work ethic and helped others whenever she was able to. She was a multi-tasker before the phrase was first coined. Her devotion to family and friends set an example to all who spent time with her. After raising her children she went back to work as a school secretary, finishing her career at Marion School. In her retirement she was able to enjoy her grandchildren, as well as do the travelling she loved.
She is survived by three of her children, Darcie (Bob Dumontier); Brian (Monique) and Delaine (Rod McLeod). Her first child, Bradley (Rhonda Stewart) passed away suddenly three short days before, calling her to be with him. We take some comfort in knowing they are now together. She also leaves to mourn her loving grandchildren, Laura (Ryan), Dylan, Graham (Karli-Anne), Sophie (Brad), Sydnee, Julia (Riad), Marco (Simone) and Wyatt who will cherish many fond memories of her here in Winnipeg and in Petersfield. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Dennis Kiene in 2000; her parents, Gabriel and Pauline Moldowan; brother George, and sister Jeannie. Mom was blessed to have found love again with second husband, Robert Caughlin, who passed in 2012. Having his family in her life for those years meant so much to us all.
The family is grateful for the support and prayers of those near and far and have planned a private service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary's name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or to River Park Gardens where she was treated like family.

  • I was privileged to work with Mary at Marion School for a number of years. She was efficient, knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. She was a hard worker and taught me a lot. We shared many a good laugh together. She definitely loved her family. She will be missed. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Julie Douville (Friend) on: Sep 03, 2019

  • Darcie, Brian, Delaine and families. I was very sad to hear about the loss of our "Auntie" Mary. She was my mom Gloria's dearest friend and I know how mom loved and cherished her. In this day and age when friendships are sometimes fleeting, the two stayed close as sisters for over fifty years, through the happiest times and saddest moments. I will remember Mary very fondly and will always consider her part of our family. It was such a shock to also learn about Brad's sudden passing. My thoughts are with you all. - Posted by: Marcy S. • Brian, Delaine and Darcie please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your mother and brother. I have fond memories of the occassional lunch at your house and your mother was always very kind to the friend you brought home from Beliveau. I ran into your brother Brad infrequently over the years but we always had pleasant conversations. The three of you are in my thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. - Posted by: Bob Dyce (Friend of the family) on: Sep 01, 2019
