FREDDIE OVERWATER
January 25, 1932 - August 14, 2019

In loving memory of Fred Overwater, who passed away in the Steinbach Hospital at the age of 87 years. He is now resting with the love of his life Kathleen.
Fred grew up in St. Norbert, Manitoba. His father Rene and mother Rose had eight children: Alice, Peter, Henry, Frederick, Alfred, Greta, Edward (Smitty), Allan and Emil.
Freddie leaves to mourn his youngest brother Emil, along with family Dan (Corinne) Overwater, Darrell Overwater (Kathy Chan), Michelle (Mike) Delaney and Linda Tonn. Fred was also a "Great Uncle" to many great-nephews and great-nieces.
Fred loved his fishing up in Red lake and taking his nephews and later Caddy Lake with his great-nephews. Freddie loved his beer - Molson Canadian, and spent lots of time with great friends at the legion. He worked for both Reimer and Trimac. Trucking was his life until the age of 70.
Thank you to the home care program, workers, and aids for helping Fred stay independent in his house for as long as possible. Thanks to his friend Laurie Kutzak for your help. Thank you to Fred's roommate Evelyn; you made his hospital stay bearable.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery. Interment will follow.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Our sincerest sympathies to all of Fred's family. We are so grateful that our paths crossed. We spent much time with Fred & Kathy & miss them both, very much. We came to know Fred to be a man who always put others before himself. This was so evident during his stay in the hospital as he often commented about others; "poor ole guy or poor ole gal." We will miss his stories of truck driving days & his advice on big rigs. We like to think that he now has the most fancy rig any trucker could ask for even if only to admire while he's out on a lake hauling in walleye. 'Til we meet again, our friend! ❤ Laurie & Ken - Posted by: Laurie Kutzak (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2019

  • We will miss you “Uncle Fred”. We will miss cutting through your yard and visiting. We missed seeing you sit out in the yard this summer. Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Tannis (Neighbor ) on: Aug 24, 2019
