JOSEPHA (JO) R. M. MATHIEU
(nee EVRARD)
Jo was born on March 10, 1928 in Antwerp, Belgium. She married Elie in November 1953. Jo and Elie immigrated to Canada in 1955 with their son Daniel and settled in Winnipeg.
Jo was predeceased by her parents, her husband Elie (2001) and her son Daniel (2007).
Jo worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers for many years. She loved all animals but dogs were her favourite animal. Her dog Willie was her companion for 14 years and when she could no longer care for Willie, her good friend Joanne Kelly cared for him until he passed.
Jo is lovingly remembered by her good friends in Winnipeg, and especially Gisèle Brunet and family who adopted Jo as their grandmother. They met in the dog park and like their pets, became instant friends. The Brunets have many wonderful memories of Jo. They loved Jo and are comforted that Jo and Willie are now back together. Au Revoir ma belle.
We would like to thank the staff at Actionmarguerite St. Boniface for the wonderful care they provided to Jo in the last few years.
A special thank you to the Brunet family for the love and laughter they brought to Jo and for all the special favours they did for Jo over the years. Also, a very special thank you to Gisèle for providing love and comfort to Jo in her last few days.
Jo has been cremated and a graveside service will be held Monday, September 16, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Saint-Boniface Cemetery, 917 Archibald Street, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, and keeping with Jo's love for animals, donations may be made in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3. Make a donation to

I am saddened to read of Jo's passing. I am saddened to say we lost touch when she gave up her apartment. She and Elie and son Danny and I go back 45 years. I will miss her laughter and warm smile. Rest easy my Friend. Give Danny a hug for me. Until we all meet again. - Posted by: Jim Walker (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2019
