Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I am so saddened by the sad news. My condolences to Remi's sister Arlette and her husband David. My mom knew Remi from the time he was about 5 yrs. old and through her. I got to know Remi. We often would meet up with him at Lee's restaurant where he always had a favorite spot to sit. Mom has a good memory for 97 yrs. old. but his first name would escape her, so she would always go up to him and say, "hey Bouchard" and he would always respond with a big smile. Before he moved to the Kinsmen Courts, I was able to acquire quite a few of his paintings which I will always cherish, Mom has a self portrait of Remi at the piano and one of Laurier school where they both attended growing up. I will miss him very much, also hearing him playing his piano. R.I.P. - Posted by: Dianne Campbell (friend) on: Sep 18, 2019

  • I am truly saddened to hear of the death of a great man and incredible composer. As a piano student 2 decades ago, I learned and performed Mr. Bouchard's piece, Dans le Jardin de mes pensées, which blew me away, and set me on my own path of compositional discovery. Though I never knew him personally, I feel connected to him through his music, and I know that I'm not the only one he inspired. Thank-you sir. - Posted by: Chris DeVries (Musician) on: Sep 16, 2019

  • I met Remi at a number of music conferences. It was a pleasure to hear his music played. His volume of created music was staggering and I knew I was in the presence of a true composer. My condolences to Remi's sister who oftened travelled with him. Sincerely Diane Hunter - Posted by: Diane Hunter (Acquaintance) on: Sep 11, 2019

  • I am so sorry to hear of M. Bouchard's passing. Having been a former student of his in Ste. Rose and having many memories of that time, I consider myself fortunate to have known him. I have used over and over again the musical knowledge that I was taught by him. The many trips we took with my aunt Eugenie Pineau to Laurier on a Saturday night for our music lessons still are very vivid in my mind. He was always so kind and gentle, and forgiving because practicing was not my forte. My sympathies to Arlette and extended family members... • Have been a friend of Remi Bouchard for many, many years. We use to have supper at Lee’s Village in Neepawa every Wednesday. A group of friends and I attended Music Appreciation evenings every February at his home for 6 weeks for over 10 years. He truly enjoyed sharing his love for music with us and his talent for painting never ceased to amaze me. Will always treasure the number of paintings he gave me. Truly an amazing Artist. Sure will miss his kind and quiet nature. My deepest Sympathy to Arlette and Family - Posted by: Christa Parenteau (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2019
