BRIAN TINKLER

Peacefully on September 6, 2019 after a long and difficult struggle, Brian passed away at St. Michael's Hospital ICU in Toronto with his loving family by his side.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 50 years, Beverly (Duncan); his son Daniel and his wife Jackie and their family, Maysen, Daelyn and Grady; son Robert and his wife Jessica and their twin boys, Duncan and Jackson; and daughter Marcia and her fiance Lee Whitter; his brother Ed, and a large, close extended family.
Brian was born and raised in Winnipeg, attended Daniel McIntyre high school and University of Manitoba obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree and MBA. After graduation in 1966 Brian joined Canada Wire and Cable / Alcatel Cable in Winnipeg. He was transferred to Markham in 1982 where he worked his entire professional career until retirement.
Brian was a devoted father who was immensely proud of his three children and their accomplishments. His love was unconditional, always interested and supportive in all that they did. The light of Papa's life were his five grandchildren. He took great pleasure in following their activities from hockey to dance and the high school band. They brightened his life.
Brian loved hockey, playing over a span of several decades, and volunteered coaching his sons in Charleswood, Winnipeg. He went on to be assistant coach of the Winter Hawks in Markham. He was also a loyal Jets fan. He was an avid golfer starting as a young caddie in Winnipeg to joining York Downs Golf Club when he moved to Markham, enjoying many golf trips through his work and with his buddies. Brian also enjoyed his fall hunting trips in Manitoba and his annual fishing trips with his buddies, The Magnificent Seven, for over 40 years.
Brian and Bev enjoyed many summers at their cottage in Mattock on Lake Winnipeg where the family came for their summer holidays connecting with family and friends every year.
Brian will be remembered for his real work ethic, kindness in helping others, his generosity, his boundless energy and his dedication to his family.
A celebration of Brian's life is planned for Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at York Downs Golf Club, 4134 16th Avenue, Unionville, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be Cancer Care Ontario, Markham Stouffville Hospital, St. Michael's Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Bev and Family: I just heard tonight of Brian's passing. Please accept my deepest condolences. Brian was a great man and was an honest, intelligent and fun associate. Some of my very good memories of business and fun times are of times spent with him. Unfortunately I cannot attend at York Downs, but I wouldn't have missed if possible. I wish you the best and know it will be very difficult to go on, but please know he meant a lot to me, Best Regards, Scott Campbell - Posted by: Scott Campbell (business) on: Sep 16, 2019
