Born on June 28, 1945 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Dave spent his career working for the Saskatchewan Government in various roles with tourism functions. While at Tourism Saskatchewan, Dave established many enduring friendships. Upon retiring, Dave moved to Winnipeg where his passion for taking pictures of fire trucks flourished thanks in large part to his friends at Fort Garry Fire Trucks, Rosenbauer Manitoba and Acres Emergency Vehicles. While in Winnipeg, Dave regularly went to the Shapes Fitness gyms on Panet/Nairn and McPhillips. Here, many friendships were made with the early morning regulars, these extended well beyond the gym and endured.
After a brief battle with cancer, Dave passed away on August 28, 2019 in Winnipeg.
At Dave's request, there will be no formal funeral service; however, there will be informal gatherings in Winnipeg and in Regina held in his honour at later dates with forthcoming details to be circulated by friends.
Those inclined are invited to donate to the Fire Fighters Historical Society of Winnipeg, 56 Maples St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 0Y8.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I met Dave first about 40 years ago in Regina. We chatted a bit and then lost track of each other. After he moved to Winnipeg we reconnected via the internet and traded pictures of Fire apparatus. He came to Nova Scotia 3-4 years ago with Mike & John and came to Yarmouth. I had made previous arrangements to take some pictures. I took Dave & Mike around the county and we saw lots of sites. Dave -you will be missed. We will try to keep up your image and do well at the pictures of Fire Apparatus in your memory. - Posted by: Stephen Taylor (Fire Service ) on: Sep 14, 2019
