With extreme courage and the
understanding and support of her entire
family, our beloved mother, Marie Dzogan peacefully passed away.
She was predeceased by her husband
Walter (1974), her sister Bernice Brown, sons-in-law, Gary Wood and George Mills.
She will be missed by her daughters, Judith Mills, Carol Wood-Friesen (Lee) and Kathy Hodgins (Ron), her seven grandchildren,
Geoff Mills, Sean Mills; James Wood
(Angela), Bonnie McIntosh (Bob Modjeski) and Jason Wood (Mary); Robert Hodgins (Sam Hunter) and Lauren Hodgins. Also
missed by her eight great-grandchildren, John, Thomas, Peter, Ryan and Reanna, Katelyn, Hailey, Nicole (Sean) and great-great-grandson Roman. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Olive Dzogan, her cousin Marion Garrity and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Winnipeg, married Dad in 1944, and raised her family. Mom and Dad travelled throughout the U.S., and Europe. She also loved spending her summers at the cabins at Falcon Lake and Moose Lake. Mom enjoyed volunteering, she sang with Sweet Adeline's, and occasionally modeled at fundraisers. Mom did not enter the workforce until Dad's death.
Mom worked for the Manitoba Motor League until her retirement, accumulating many memorable trips. She visited Morocco, Gibraltar, China (twice), various places in the United States and all across Canada. She also loved her trips to Barbados, Hawaii and Portugal with family.
Mom was instrumental in making sure her husband Walter's aircraft, the WACO,
CF-AYS was donated to the Aviation Museum after his death. The aircraft has been restored and will be on display in the new museum location.
Mom spent hours in her condo's sunroom overlooking Assiniboine Park with her cat Penny while engaged in her hobbies. She loved to knit, crochet, paint and was an avid reader. Losing her sight years ago closed a big window in her life.
At her next home, Lindenwood Terrace, she made many new friends and resided there until her final move to West Park Personal Care Home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Leung Shing. The staff at West Park Personal Care home treated Mom like family. We appreciate all of their caring and thoughtfulness.
Mom respected the knowledge and guidance she received from her goddaughter Denise Brown, we thank Denise for this.
Mom was grateful for the M.A.I.D. Team and their assistance in her last weeks.
In keeping with Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada, or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Mom, we hope you find peace. Your pain is now gone and your regrets are all behind you.
