Pearl is survived by her daughters, Arlene Olien, Donna Wilby and Heather Watson; son George (Carol) Duguid; grandchildren, Rick (Kelly) Olien, Lori Olien, Carl (Nora) Duguid, Kevin (Kim) Duguid, Jonathon (Aimee) Wilby, James (Jessica) Wilby, Grant (Shannon) Watson, Amber (Shane) Maltby; as well as numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Pearl met John Duguid at a barn dance one weekend which sparked their romance. Pearl and John were married on July 21, 1941. Together they raised four children in the Weston area of Winnipeg. Pearl and John built their family cabin in Ingolf, ON in the early 1970s. Time spent at Ingolf with their children and grandchildren was their most cherished time and created many fond memories. Pearl and John were married for almost 50 years before John passed away. Pearl moved in with Heather and Glen and spent 27 years with them. Pearl enjoyed planting the garden every year, growing flowers and cooking with Heather. Pearl was an amazing cook/baker and she was able to pass these talents onto her children.
Pearl was known as "Granny" by everyone; even those who were not part of her family which suited her loving and kind personality.
Granny you will be dearly missed by all
who knew you. Go now and rest in peace
with your beloved John.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, September 22, 2019 for immediate family with burial to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pearl's honour to Bethesda Place Personal Care Home.

Rest In Peace Granny. Thanks for being a part of my life, you are without a doubt the best Grandmother that ever walked the earth. You were always so kind, caring and loving. I don’t remember even one time you ever yelling or getting mad at me even though you should have. Well actually once when Grandpa was teaching me to drive his 6 hp tiller and we all went fishing with me driving the boat, Grandpa in the middle and you at the front of the boat. As another boat approached I panicked and cranked the tiller handle we started going around in circles doing 360 after 360. Granny screamed my name to stop the boat as Grandpa grabbed the tiller handle and killed the motor. Hey I was only 10 or 11 and just learning. You provided me with some of the best times of my life. Taking my brother James and I and our cousin Grant to the lake for endless summertime fun and home cooking fit for a King. When it came to swimming at the lake at the cabin there was one rule, you never splashed and got Granny’s hair wet, never. I am unsure how you were able to pick ice cream pails of blueberries with us grandchildren flocking you like a bunch of gulls stealing out of your pail while ours were empty but you did. You baked the best homemade blueberry and crab-apple pies ever. Just two weeks ago I snagged some crab-apples off a guy from work and Aimee whipped up a pie just like you use to make, it brought back so many memories of you. Your Ukrainian cooking was hands down the best and you passed that skill onto everyone in the family. Some family members picked up that skill of cooking better than others thou no fault of yours. You made the best borscht in the world (she added stewing meat or steak) in fact I won’t eat anyone elses borscht as it just disappoints. You used to always sew my clothes, patch my coveralls, cut my hair, and spoil me like Grandmas spoil their grandchildren. I enjoyed spending time with you and hearing all your stories (like what it was like to grow up in Poplarfield, and stories of meeting Grandpa, and working as a seamstress). It was fun playing many games of cards with you, and watching curling on tv with you even though others thought curling was stupid. Your love for watching curling came from being married to Scottish man who was an avid curler himself. Your life’s teachings to me are now a part of my teachings to my 5 children. Your pain and suffering is now gone and as you head to heaven make sure you give Grandpa a hug and kiss for me and also to my Dad to please, as well uncle Glen and uncle Jim. You're now with all the good ones in heaven. I love you always Granny. Love your grandson Jonny. - Posted by: Jon Wilby (Grandson) on: Sep 16, 2019
