ANNA ANDRES
(nee PAULS)
November 8, 1921 - September 14, 2019
She was born in the Mennonite village of Chortitza, in what is now Ukraine and grew up during the turbulent times of the 1930s and the Second World War. Anna came to Canada in 1949, with her mother and three sisters. She worked for most of her career at the Manitoba Department of Highways. In 1987, Anna married Cornelius Andres and they spent their retirement years travelling and enjoying life in Winnipeg.
Anna was the second youngest and sole survivor of 13 children. She was also predeceased by her husband. Left to remember her are Cornelius's children, Evelyn Froese (Peter) and Corey Andres (Eleanor), five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews in Germany and Canada.
Anna was an independent and resourceful woman. She remained cheerful, optimistic, and willing to help others while she could. She will be missed.
The family thanks the staff at Pembina Place Mennonite Personal Care Home for the care Anna received in her year of residence there.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22 at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg.
If friends so wish, donations may be made to the Bethania Mennonite Memorial Foundation.

I have fond memories of Anishka looking after my brother John and I when we were children. I remember her hand-stands! Condolences to the family. She was a wonderful woman. - Posted by: Eleanor Gummer (Froese) (cousin) on: Sep 21, 2019
