October 6, 1956 - September 18, 2019
With heartfelt sadness, Bob's family announces his passing at St. Boniface Hospital on September 18, 2019.
Predeceased by parents, Doreene (Latham) and Gordon Beattie; he is survived by his loving sisters, Trish Gibson and Linda (Louis) Laberge; nephews and nieces, Ian (Jen) Gibson, Jill (Caleb) Irving, Marc Laberge, Deb (Greg) Slywchuk, Michael (Christie) Laberge; as well as 12 beloved great-nephews and great-nieces.
Bob was born with Down Syndrome. He led a full, happy life filled with unconditional love, acceptance and a little mischief. Bob was employed by Versatech (Imaginability) for 35 years. He enjoyed his job, especially payday and the annual Christmas dinner and dance where he didn't sit down once the music started. He participated in Special Olympics including bowling, floor hockey, baseball and track and field. Following the death of his parents, Bob moved to a group home within the Pulford Community Living family where he thrived alongside his housemates Jim and Rudy. Many thanks to Pulford for providing such wonderful support to Bob over 17 years. A very special thank you to Tricia, Ola and Phillip for giving Bob such exceptional care these last few months.
A private Celebration of Life will be held October 6, 2019.
If anyone wishes, donations made to Pulford Community Living, 5 - 1146 Waverley Street, to help support another special person, would be greatly appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)
Bob was such an amazing man, he had so much love to give! He was funny, loved to play tricks on the support staff in his home and was more than willing to help with anything. He loved to ride his bike to 7-11 to pick up a couple groceries, would sneak back into the house and quietly go to his room with the change, in hopes I would forget about and he could use it to buy a treat the next day at work. I used to enjoy going with him on floor hockey trips and being his “hockey mom” cheering him on from the sidelines. He was a fun loving guy and will be missed by many. Sending prayers to all. 💕 - Posted by: Shannon (Previous Home Manager) on: Sep 25, 2019
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, Linda. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I remember your brother, Bobby, well from the days that you lived on Harper Avenue. The last time that I saw you was at a social back in the day. God Bless...xo - Posted by: Maureen Verry (Friend) on: Sep 22, 2019
To Bob's wonderful family - please accept our heartfelt sympathies, Bob was such a great person. He loved to dance at Coral Sands while he was there on his holiday, he was loved by us all and will be sadly missed. But he has now gone to a special place.
