LUCILLE EMOND
(née DUBREUIL)
December 18, 1928 - September 19, 2019

With sadness we announce the passing of Lucille, our Mum, at Victoria General Hospital.
She will be missed by her 10 children: Jacqueline Pasternak, Paul (Wendy), Monique Laynes (Tony), Annette Kenny (John), Marc, Denise, Gisèle Smith (Shane), Yvette, Rita Daly (Richard Hamel) and René (Carla); 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Thérèse Nadeau, Louise Grégoire and Annette Dubreuil; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Gérard in 1998; three children: Marie in 1953, Alphonse in 1958 and Joe in 2014; her brother Joe; her sister Florence Chudley; and all her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Born in St. Boniface, Mum studied nursing and worked at St. Boniface Hospital. She and Dad were married in 1952 and a few years later moved to St. Norbert to raise their family.
Mum loved music, especially opera and she enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was the sports fan in the family. She loved hockey with the Montreal Canadiens, baseball, figure skating and the Olympics. Mum was an amazing seamstress, which came in very handy when it came to dressing 11 children. She enjoyed letter writing and carried on a 75-year pen pal exchange with two dear friends in Australia and France.
The family would like to acknowledge the support and care Mum received over the years from Dr. Nene Rush, all the home care providers and the staff at both St. Boniface Hospital and Victoria General Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by L'abbé Charles Fillion at St. Norbert Roman Catholic Church, 70 rue St. Pierre, St. Norbert, MB, on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The eulogy will precede the Mass at 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
