JOHN GORDON ELLISON

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of John.
He is survived by his son Mathew; daughter Paige; loving parents, Eric and Louise; sister Barb (Andy); brother James (Cindy); mother of his children Heidi; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
John lived his entire life in Winnipeg and enjoyed many wonderful summers at the family cottage in Grand Beach. Upon completing his Business Diploma at Red River College, John worked in sales and marketing for various companies, connecting instantly with clients, who appreciated his fun loving and gregarious personality. John was truly passionate about his sporting activities and Aikido Martial Arts ranked highly on this list. He spent many years training and providing assistance to his Sensei John with close friend Jeff, whom he fondly referred to as his "brother from another mother". Golf was also a steady favourite in John's life, beginning at a young age when he became a junior member at Rossmere Golf and Country Club. He later joined Elmhurst Golf and Country Club, where he was a member for more than 30 years. He cherished many a laugh on and off of the course, sharing these moments in his later years with a very special group of friends, whom he fondly referred to as "the boys". He spoke often of the great times that were had by all during their weekend golf getaways. Most importantly, he was always very proud of his two children and all of their accomplishments. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
