NEIL CREEK
September 6, 1954 - September 22, 2019
He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Debbie Creek (nee Carlow); daughters, Kristen (Josh), and Lindsay (Andrew); three grandchildren, Miles, Archie, and Stella; sister Corinne (Daroll); nieces, Chelsea (Bob and their children, Tesla and Emerson), Ashley (Dan); sisters-in-law, Cindy (Eric), and Wendy (Dale); niece Jenna; his mother-in-law Doreen, as well as many cousins and extended family.
He was predeceased by his mother Lee, his father Herbert, and nephew Chris.
Dad was born in Winnipeg and grew up in West St. Paul. He attended West St. Paul Collegiate and then University of Manitoba where he completed a commerce degree. He started his career at Acklands and then went to Bumper to Bumper and finally Uni-Select as manager of sales for the western division of Canada. He had many customers whom he considered friends.
He was passionate about sports and played basketball, baseball, curling and golf. He extended this love to coaching where he coached both his daughters' softball teams for many years. His passion was curling and has countless trophies to show for it. He enjoyed travelling and took many road trips across Canada and the United States. In addition, he was able to experience many Caribbean cruises as well as travel to Mexico. His favourite trip was a recent family holiday in St. Lucia.
Dad was quiet and enjoyed many simple pleasures - BBQing with a beer, eating an Oh Henry with a Coke and watching the Jets. He loved camping and spent many summers with his family at Rushing River. He was also fiercely stubborn. Dad was adamant he could build/make or repair anything which often resulted in many repeated trips to Home Depot. A meat and potatoes man, his refusal to eat broccoli provided much comedic relief at dinnertime. Country music was his favourite but if polka music started playing, he would grab anyone near to dance.
Dad was a great father and devoted husband. He loved his wife Debbie and would do anything for her. When he would pick her up from work, he always had a single rose on the car seat. They spent 41 wonderful years together. Dad was so proud of his daughters and all their achievements. He was a devoted grandfather to Miles and Archie and was so happy to welcome his first granddaughter Stella.
Our family would like to thank the following for their care and compassion: Dr. Goldenberg, Dr. McKay, Dr. Wong, Health Sciences Centre Dialysis unit, HSC SICU and Winnipeg Fire and EMS.
As per Dad's wishes a graveside service was held with immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
"You are near, even if I don't see you.
You are with me, even if you are far away.
You are in my heart, my thoughts, my life,
always."

It was so very sad to hear of Neil's passing. We first met Neil when he joined the Bumper to Bumper program through Acklands many years ago. Eventually Neil became our Sales Manager at Uni-Select and helped us immensely over the years. He was so knowledgeable and we *picked his brain* over and over. He always was so willing to source parts, etc. that were hard to find. His quick retirement was surprising as we did not know he was so ill. Our sincere condolences to Debbie and the family. He will be so dearly missed. - Posted by: Larry & Sue Chura (Business Associate - Beausejour Tire/Bumper to Bumper) on: Sep 30, 2019

So sad to hear the passing of Neil. He was a great person who always had the time to speak with anyone who showed up at his office. I enjoyed working with Neil for many years and he will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of meeting him. - Posted by: Keith Penner (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2019

Neil was a mentor, co worker and friend. It was my privilege to have worked with Neil for 10 years at Uni-Select. He taught me a lot and after leaving still offered me advice and guidance on my new career. I could always stop by Uni and chat with Neil about something work related or just how awful the Jets game was! I send my condolences and prayers to the Creek family. He will be very much missed, but never forgotten. - Posted by: Darcy Arbuthnot (Friend ) on: Sep 29, 2019

Our sincere condolences to Debbie and the family. Although we had not been neighbours for many years, Neil and I would cross paths on occasion, by virtue of occupations, and it was always a pleasure speaking with him. Our heartfelt wishes are extended. - Posted by: Murray and Yvette Bourke (neighbour) on: Sep 29, 2019

I am so sorry for your loss: Debbie, Kristen, Lindsay and family. Mr. Creek, as we were neighbours when I was growing up, always made me laugh with his quick wit and joking personality. I have many great memories of sharing a driveway, babysitting, bike rides, talks over the fence. Mr. Creek was kind, generous and such a dad...always having great responses that only dad’s can get away with. He was a great man and I am so thankful I was able to know him for so many years. He left this world far too early, but is most likely sharing a beer with my dad right now, watching over his precious family. XOXO - Posted by: Heather Hayden (Neighbours ) on: Sep 29, 2019

I am so sorry to here of Neils' passing. I enjoyed working with him and discussing current events. But most of all he was the one to get the ball rolling for our local company BQ's and our Christmas lunches. - Posted by: Don Cooper (co-worker) on: Sep 28, 2019

I am very sorry to hear of Neil's passing. He was a very good man. His legacy is his family. His pride and joy. We didn't see much of each other through the years except at family functions but when we did it was nice to catch up. He never changed he was always as I remembered him. What I remembered most was going out to visit at Auntie Lee, Uncle Bert, Neil and Corrine in West Saint Paul. For decades after I always looked for the old house every time I drove that way. Rest in Peace Neil. To the family, I am very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Roy Breen (cousin) on: Sep 28, 2019
