Mom was born in Winnipeg and raised on the family farm in Minerva. She married Dad in 1953. They lived in the Minerva area where Shaunda and Michael were born. A few years later they moved to Winnipeg for Dad's work; Mom was busy with her young family, also working part time at Pierre's restaurant. We spent almost every weekend at the farm in Minerva, sometimes at Dad's family farm in Meleb, and often both. In 1965 they moved back to help with Amma and Afi's dairy farm. Shaunda and Michael were so happy to be back on the farm and a year later, Kim was born, to the delight of us all!
Mom was always involved in the community - whether as a good neighbour, 4-H leader or member of the Minerva Ladies Aid. She worked hard on the dairy farm and in later years with their U-Pick Berry Farm. Mom was an avid curler and had many wonderful adventures socializing and travelling with her curling ladies. These ladies were some of her dearest friends. Mom had the 'music in her' and oh, how she loved to dance!
Mom loved her family dearly. She delighted in the company of her grandchildren who all spent so many happy hours at the farm, and her great-grandchildren brought her such joy in her later years.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gimli Lutheran Church.
