DAVID JOHN MACKAY

Dave passed away peacefully, at the age of 95, with his wife, son and sister by his side.
He will be missed by his wife of 37 years Isabelle; his son Brian (Lyette); daughter Susan (John); stepsons, David, Don, Dale (Candace) Sawchuk; his sister Jeanne (Tom); six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by parents, David and Ivy; first wife May; and stepgrandson Garth.
Dave had a 28 year career in R.C.A.F. bands as a drummer, where he spent time in most countries in Europe, and with the UN in Sardinia, Gaza and Rafa; he also played with the Count Basie Orchestra, Ted Komar Band and various bands associated with the Ice Capades, Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company, Mark Kenny's Ranch and various visiting performers including Nat King Cole and Ann Murray.
In later years, he was also a member of the Khartum Shriners Fife and Drum Band and a Jazz Band in McAllen (10 years). His R.C.A.F. career also included wartime service.
With his wife Isabelle, he enjoyed trips to Mexico, Cuba and many cruises, along with golfing and memorable times at the cottage on McConnell Lake and winters in McAllen, Texas. He was a jokester, fun loving and enjoyed time with family and friends.
As Dave was a lover of good Scotch, he asked that friends and relatives have a drink to his memory, and grieve not, for now I am free.
As per his wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity of your choice.
