GERALDINE DIANE BUSCH
Geraldine was born October 23, 1943 to James and Irene Hallick. She grew up on a farm just south of Stenen, SK.
She attended Sturgis Composite High School and lived on the farm until the age of 18. Shortly after, she moved to Winnipeg, where she raised her two children at the same time managing a career as a legal assistant to Bill Abrams.
Geraldine is predeceased by her parents and brother James Hallick (Uncle Pete).
Left to forever cherish her memory are her loving partner of over 20 years, Bill Stewart; son Jason (Jennifer), grandchildren, Tyler and Kaitlyn; daughter Shelly, grandchildren, Tatum and Libby-Geraldine; along with Bill's children, Ross (Terry) and their children, Taylor, Lauren and Olivia; Colleen (Matt Stacey) and their children, Maya and Drew; and lifelong friend Susan Gower; along with many other friends and family from Winnipeg, Saskatchewan and the United States.
Mom and Bill were a perfect match. They had so many common interests which allowed them to truly enjoy spending time with each other throughout these past 20 years. Their sense of humour and love of sports brought them many happy moments together. From watching Jets games, to golfing the links at Grand Pines, to playing cards and visiting with close friends and family, their time together was undoubtedly her happiest of years.
Our Mom was dedicated and loving throughout her life. She so enjoyed her retirement years heading south in the winter with Bill to Texas to enjoy time with good friends. In the spring she would travel to Nelson, BC to visit Shelly and grandchildren before heading back to Manitoba to enjoy the summer months out at Albert Beach. In between travelling she found time to be with her grandchildren in Winnipeg, by attending their sporting events, birthdays and taking care of them regularly. There is no doubt in our minds that she loved her grandchildren beyond words. Above all she loved watching them grow, hearing about their achievements, spending time with them and laughing as they would recount silly stories of their day.
Mom was the light of our life and we are so grateful for her unwavering support for all her children and grandchildren. She embodied the true meaning of selflessness and we carry her love with us in our hearts forever.
We wish to extend our gratitude to the nurses at Health Sciences Centre, especially Gener, Cathleen, and Megan, for their compassionate care for Geraldine during her last moments.
At Mom's request there will not be a formal service.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)
Gerry and I met in our mid twenties when she moved to Transcona. We met through our then husbands who worked together at that time. From that time on we were always together, each had two children and many things in common. Sports was our main interest, playing baseball together for many years in Anola, Mb., both Women’s and Mixed. Since I moved back to Winnipeg we kept busy with our dogs, walks, going out on Saturday with Bill, many lunches together, playing cards and them inviting me out to the lake. I will always be grateful to her for all the help she gave me in the last couple of years with me being in and out of hospital. Gerry, you will never know how much I’m going to miss you. Rest In Peace my friend. Love you. - Posted by: Susan Gower (Best friend, almost life long.) on: Nov 01, 2019
Gerry and I met when I came to work with her at Bill Abrams law firm. We have been friends for a long time and shared many good times together. I will miss you my dear friend. My thoughts go out to Bill, Jason and Shelly and all their families. - Posted by: June Bradwell (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2019
I am so sorry for your loss. She was always a joy to speak with over the fence and Gerri was always welcoming when our kids would run up to the door. We are really going to miss her. - Posted by: Landon & Kristy O'Toole (Next Door Neighbours) on: Oct 08, 2019
It’s with sadness to hear of my best friend growing up and not being here today! As kids we were always together and either at her house or at my house at Crystal Lake. My parents would bundle up my sister and I in our toboggan and walk to Hallick’s to be together. Geraldine’s dad and my dad were also best friends. Geraldine and I would constantly taunt her brother Aloys and he would always tolerate our playful nonsense! May the Lord bless all the family as you go through life with as many wonderful memories we share together about you dear mom, grandma, and friends. Much love Sandra - Posted by: Sandra Jeffrey (Nee Black) (Best friend growing up!) on: Oct 08, 2019
