GERRY KILLEN
1951 - 2019
Gerry leaves behind his wife Valerie of 48 years; daughters: Christine (Randy), Karen (Russ); his beloved grandchildren: Alex, Haley, Zachary, Josh, Lucas and Ryan. Gerry is also survived by his mother Edna Killen; sister, Judy Bird (Brian); and mother-in-law Lillian Long. Gerry will also be deeply missed, by numerous family and many friends. A great man that will live forever in our hearts.
He was predeceased by his father George Killen; siblings: Carolyn Godfredson, Robert (Bob) Killen; and father-in-law, Ronald Long.
Gerry was born in Winnipeg, MB on May 12, 1951. He met the love of his life, Valerie and they married on April 17, 1971 at St. Edwards Parish. Gerry and Valerie were transferred to Swan Hills, AB in 1975 where he worked for Imperial Oil, Judy Creek. Yearning to leave the "big city excitement" of Swan Hills behind for a small-town life, they moved to Whitecourt in 1981. While in Whitecourt, Gerry had a passion to volunteer with groups such as Associated Ambulance and Santa's Anonymous. He took great pride in giving back to his community. Gerry and Valerie settled in St. Albert, AB in 1998.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2019 at Connelly-McKinley, St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, AB.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edmonton Autism Society or charity of one's choice.
Our family would like to thank the emergency team at the Sturgeon Hospital in St. Albert for their amazing, undivided care and compassion through this difficult time.
