REINHOLD (ROY) FERDINAND GALL

Reinhold (Roy) Ferdinand Gall, was born March 18, 1936, and passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on October 12, 2019, peacefully at home with his family by his side.
He will be dearly missed by Beverly, his loving wife of 58 years. They married at Faith Lutheran Church (on September 9, 1961) and have been members every since. Roy and Bev adopted two children, Vern (in 1970) and Tammy (in 1971). Roy leaves behind his son Vern (and partner Karen Williams); daughter Tamara (and partner Fred); and six grand-children, Parker (and Skylar) Hatcher, Alana, Dylan, Kara, Haley, and Cameron. He also leaves behind his sisters, Leona (and William) Yankie, Helen (and William) Jaehrlich. Sisters-in-law, Connie Kiesman, Darlene (and Lloyd) Kellett, Judy (and Gil) Turenne; and brother-in-law Orval Kiesman (and partner Sharon Lynne-Hiebert). Also, many special nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Roy grew up on the farm in Moosehorn, Manitoba during the depression with eight brothers and sisters. He came to Winnipeg when he was 16 and enjoyed working at a service station on St. Mary's Road as a mechanic. When he was 18, Roy started working at Canada Packers (where he spent the next 33 years as a Millright). After the plant closed (in 1988), Roy went to work for Maple Leaf Foods (on Plessis Road) for the next 13 years at which time he retired (in 2001). Roy was a member of the UFCW (Winnipeg) Local 832 for a total of 46 years.
Roy loved working with Bev in their garden and making dill-pickles. Without any reservations, Roy enjoyed being of help to anyone that needed. His grandchildren would often say "Give it to Grandpa! - He can fix anything!"
Roy was a kind, gentle, and generous person. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
We'd like to send a special bouquet to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital (on 7AW) and the Palliative Care team. They have the capacity for much care and compassion - for that we are very grateful.
Thanks to all who have shown love, care, kindness through prayers, visits, and words of support through this difficult time.
There will be a Celebration of Life this Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota St., Winnipeg, MB R2N 1V8. (Coffee served after)
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to: The Faith Lutheran Memorial Fund (address above) or a charity of your choosing.

Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • Dearest Bev and family, our deepest and most sincere condolences on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather. Roy was the greatest kind of neighbour to have. Always happy to see you, always ready to help in any way, always welcoming and generous in his home. I donโ€™t know any man who worked so hard, so tirelessly for his family. He was a kind and beautiful soul. The world has lost one of the good ones, but Heaven has gained one of the great ones. Our thoughts are with you. Brian, Cierra and Savanna Reimer. - Posted by: Brian Reimer (Friend and neighbour) on: Oct 18, 2019

  • Dear Bev, I remember you and Roy as a young couple at Faith Lutheran on Berrydale. We had kiddies at the same time. Roy was a quiet, friendly man who I know you will love forever. Please accept my condolences and and huge hugs. Terrol ( Bobert) Rogers - Posted by: Terrol Rogers (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2019

  • My Grandpa Gall was a very selfless man. I know that in all that he did his choices were to benefit those he loved. He truly cared about his family, and bettered the lives of everyone from close family to distant strangers. He was the kind of man that inspired you to be a better person. My heart goes out to his family in this hard time. It is very difficult to lose a person like him, but just remember that he will always be watching over us. I love you Grandpa, you will be missed. - Posted by: Haley Gall (Grandchild) on: Oct 17, 2019

  • Roy was always a special person in our lives for so many years. His selflessness shone through in everything he did. Haley, Cameron and I have so many fond memories of Roy that we can look back at and smile. Thank you Lord for blessing us all with such a beautiful man. Bev, Vern, Tammy and all the grandchildren whom he cared for as his own children, I will be thinking of you during this hard time. I know Roy will be looking over you from above from this day forward. - Posted by: Karen Gall (Former daughter-in-law) on: Oct 16, 2019

  • I first met Roy and Bev in 1963-64 when my sister Frances married Roy's brother, Herman. We have always remained like family ever since. Roy was always a wonderful caring and gentle man whom I admired very much. You will be missed, Roy, R.I.P.. Bev and family, I am so sorry for your loss, but I know your memories of him will last a lifetime. Love and prayers to you all. • Grandpa. You were the brightest light in my life. You had a smile that could light up an entire neighbourhood in a blackout! You were truly one of a kind. Theyโ€™ve done a great job with this passage. I know youโ€™d approve. You told me, days before you passed, to look after everyone. And I promise, I will do just that. I love you. -Parker - Posted by: Parker (Grandson) on: Oct 16, 2019

  • Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your husband, father, grand dad. My fondest memory of Roy was that he always had a warm smile and firm handshake for everyone...whether he just met you or knew you for many years! You could feel his joy and acceptance radiating through that smile. Whether he knew it or not, he was setting an example to everyone around on what it means to be a Christian. Another memory is how he would "kibbits" with Bev! How he would tease her! As much as Bev downplayed the teasing, you could see the twinkle in her eyes...and his as they exchanged glances! What a love they shared! Again, whether he knew it or not, their marriage was an example to all young couples what a God filled God led marriage looked like! What a legacy! - Posted by: Lori Meisner Neufeld (Family/friend) on: Oct 16, 2019

  • Dear Vern, Mrs Gall, and family.. I'm so sorry for your loss. I feel like your family has been a part of our family forever, even though I just met Mr and Mrs Gall this past year. Vern, your parents are lovely people. It was a pleasure to finally meet them, and I'm sorry for your family's sadness. - Posted by: Heather den Boer (Family friend) on: Oct 16, 2019
