NEIL LORN KAUS
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Sharon; brothers, Ron (Carole), Al (Kathy), Bert (Tim), Lloyd (Caroline); and sister Viv (Dave) Gallant; sisters-in-law, Cathy Hanz (Jack), Chris (Rocky) Baronins, Lisa (Ron) Sheppard; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Neil was a mechanical engineering technologist, working for several Winnipeg firms, before retiring from Pritchard Engineering in 2014.
Neil and Sharon shared a life together for over 45 years and during that time enjoyed many adventures camping, fishing, and vacations in Europe and Mexico. Neil especially loved road trips, driving the German Autobahn, the Italian Amalfi Coast, Sacramento at Christmas to buy a camper, the infamous "VanGoes" trip to Mexico and of course, the regular pilgrimages to Menards.
Neil was constantly working on renovation projects in their home and yard, or in his garage. He took pride in his ability to do the work himself and was a great source of knowledge and expertise for anyone who needed his help or advice.
Neil enjoyed curling with his buddies, his Thursday night "choir practices" and the monthly EBBC breakfasts where the talk was classic cars and other topics known only to them.
Neil's humour and mischievous smile will be missed by everyone who knew him, especially his nieces and nephews, who he teased relentlessly. If there is a photograph anywhere of Neil not showing that infectious grin, hang on to it, it's a rarity.
Per Neil's wishes no service will be held.
Anyone who wishes to do so may donate to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba in Neil's memory. Make a donation to

We are saddened at the loss of a good friend. Neil was a great inspiration when it came to working on cars. There wasn’t much he didn’t know or couldn’t do. I learned a lot from him. He and I lost contact with my change in shifts, but he was always in our thoughts because 39 years ago he was bestman at our wedding. You will be missed! - Posted by: Rod & Carol Tuckett (Friends ) on: Nov 12, 2019

Uncle Neil!!! Always warm and welcoming, the best of the best!! Too many memories to point out one. First Harley ride was with him, was one of my favourite people to watch my sister and I when we were little (probably had a little to do with Sharon also), Awesome sense of humour and relentless teaser. Always welcoming with a hug and genuinely interested in our lives. Loved playing games at Christmas and allowing all his rowdy nieces and nephews, 1st and 2nd generation to over take his home. He loved us well and Life without him will not be the same. Rest In Peace my dear uncle and thank you for everything!!❤️❤️ - Posted by: Kelly (Niece) on: Nov 05, 2019

I have 43 first cousins, and Neil was the closest in age to me. He was always kind and gentle. We'd have a lot of fun together when he came to visit our farm near Moosehorn, MB. ... driving the tractor around on the field, building treehouses and playing in the hayloft. My deepest sympathy to Sharon, his siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. He was a good man and will be forever missed. - Posted by: Darlene Kaus (Cousin) on: Nov 01, 2019

Neil was a great friend and fun to be with. We had wonderful times at the PPYSC fall Regatta planning our upcoming year of curling. Always enjoyed "14 more & we're outa here!" Neil will be missed deeply. - Posted by: Doug Durnin (Curling friend) on: Oct 19, 2019

My first encounter with Neil was as the new kid on McCalman Bay. Neil was being rolled around the bay inside of a giant tractor tire. From the on he was always doing something mechanical to which I was always amazed. Always the level headed guy. Even when he raced his big Chrysler at Bison, he had a laid back seating in the car. I finally got back to seeing him this past summer at a choir practice and it was as if we never missed a day even though it was 35 years. RIP Neily.... keep pushing the pedal - Posted by: Ron Gross (Friend) on: Oct 19, 2019
