ROBIN GODFREY PARKER
Robin was born in Uxbridge, Middlesex, England on March 9, 1942. In 1963, he followed his brothers and immigrated with Jennifer to Winnipeg.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Jennifer; their dog Bud; parents, Charlie and Minnie Parker; and his sister-in-law Peggy Parker.
Robin is survived by his daughter Deborah (Glen Garrioch); son Scott (Lily Eng); grandchildren, Will and Kristine Garrioch. Also left to mourn are his brothers, Don Parker, Brian and Sylvia Parker, Roland and Diana Gibson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Robin joined the Winnipeg Police Service in 1966, eventually becoming a Sergeant with the Youth Division. He dedicated his life to the needs of underprivileged kids through his work, which included the Police and Pal Program. Robin retired in 1995 with 29 years of service. Afterwards, he worked 10 years for the province in Risk Assessments in the Child Welfare Field. Here Robin developed a system for background checks that went beyond regular criminal record checks.
Dad spent his retired life doing the things that made him most happy.
He enjoyed spending weekends at his home away from home with Deb, Glen, Will, Kristine and his grand-dog Sally. Every Saturday morning, Sally would anxiously await his car because she knew she was being delivered her weekly Timbits.
Robin was a member of Rossmere Country Club for over 30 years. He had a love/hate relationship with the game of golf over the years, but enjoyed having a pint with his friends at the club.
He spent more time with his brothers and their families. He travelled the world. Robin was a huge fan of boats, ships, trains, planes and automobiles, which he worked into every trip he took. His passion for transportation began at an early age watching and cataloguing the trains in England. He checked off a big bucket list item this summer by visiting the Boeing Everett Factory in Washington.
Our family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at Health Sciences Centre (GA4) for the care and compassion the last week of his life. We'd also like to thank our family and friends for their love and support.
A celebration of Dad's life will be held at North Kildonan MB Church, 1315 Gateway Road in Winnipeg on Thursday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation (www.cancercare.mb.ca) or Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue (www.manitobamutts.org).

This New Year's Day Morning, I was saddened deeply to learn of Robin's passing this past fall. My condolences to his family and friends. I worked for Robin in the early 90s while he was in charge of Child Abuse Unit with the Winnipeg Police Service. Robin truly was an advocate for all of the children who happened across our caseload in the unit. Robin was a gentleman and personified "The Golden Rule". - Posted by: Larry (Levasseur) on: Jan 01, 2020

To the Parker family..... I had the opportunity to work with Robin in the WPS Child Abuse Unit on several occasions. Robin was a consumate professional as a Police Officer and was held in high regard by Police Officers, Staff , and every outside agency he dealt with. Robin was a true gentleman in every respect and possessed a great sense of humour..... All the best to his family at this sad time....Clarke and Shirley Single - Posted by: Clarke Single P/Sgt ( retired ) (Co worker) on: Dec 04, 2019
