JEAN PERCHUK
(nee GAGAWCHUK)
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 68 years, Bill Perchuk, son Bill (Lori) Perchuk, son Rick (Jan) Perchuk, son Randy Perchuk, son Brent (Carolyn) Perchuk; her grandchildren, Jeff, Lauren, Rob, Myles, Laura, Bill, Ken, Cristin, Parker; and 15 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Debbie.
Baba was known for the thousands of perogies she produced year after year. She recruited teams of friends and family who would work tirelessly with strict instructions and quality control to make by far the best perogies ever made, as attested to by all that tried them. Everyone received a portion of friendship, fun and laughter that Jean brought, and came back for more. She loved to cook and always seemed to have enough for everyone who showed up.
Jean worked hard all her life. She ran Perchuk Lumber with Bill for many years as a salesperson, bookkeeper, delivery person and could load and unload lumber as well as anyone, in between raising their five children. They built many roads and septic fields while logging their timber limits during the winter, teaching all the boys the ongoing love of cutting trees, which they passed on to the next generation. She wasn't afraid to chase a bear out of the house, after she had taken some video of it in the kitchen of course.
Jean was absolutely genuine and what you saw was what you got. She made many friends over the years as people passed through the lumber yard. Everyone was welcome as long as they were friendly and willing to stop for a visit around the kitchen island. She loved to laugh and was full of fun.
We will always remember Baba as a warm, loving, strong woman who was quick to say "I love you".
Cremation has taken place with interment and a Celebration of Life to be arranged at a later date.
Brown Funeral Home, Kenora, ON, in care of arrangements.

I always remember on our family visits that included treats from Dairy Queen in Kenora, and picking lady slipper flowers out behind the house. Wonderful memories from a wonderful aunt!! My thoughts are with the family... ~Brenda - Posted by: Brenda Lee Gagawchuk (Niece) on: Oct 25, 2019

I have wonderful memories of watching my mom and Auntie Jean making hundreds of perogies all over the kitchen, filling every counter and tray in sight. She always welcomed my 3 children for visits and they always had a great time with lots of stories about exploring 'Old Town'. With deepest sympathy, Tracy. - Posted by: Tracy Dmytriw (Niece) on: Oct 23, 2019

We unfortunately never saw much of her in recent years. She was a life-long friend of our family, a sister to my mom who spoke to her every day. My mom has been gone for 2 years. I can't help but think of the joyous reunion they are having right now. I miss them both. - Posted by: April Fleischmann (long time family friend) on: Oct 22, 2019
