ANNE LOEWEN
(née FROESE)

Born in Willen, Manitoba - October 20, 1929. Passed away peacefully at Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home, Winnipeg - October 19, 2019.
After a long and rich life our dear Mother passed away, surrounded by family.
She leaves to mourn her husband Aron Loewen, son Ed (Chris Voth), daughter Carol (Tim) Remmert, son Eric (Sabina), and three granddaughters, Mielen Remmert, Rebecca Loewen and Melissa Loewen. She is survived by her sisters, Nellie Wiebe and Lillie Martens, and a vast extended family of dear in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother John Froese and parents, Jacob and Mary Froese.
Anne was baptized on June 9, 1957 and married on April 25, 1959 at First Mennonite Church. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to entertain and visit with family and friends. She organized many family gatherings. She spent countless hours compiling and maintaining the Loewen Family Genealogy, creating a circle of connections with her treasured family. She had a love of Mennonite history and a keen interest in her archive of information. Her level of organization and perfection in all her endeavours was admirable. Anne and Aron had many opportunities to travel and have stacks of photos from these trips.
The many years she spent volunteering through church, Westgate and the community were a joy to her. Anne's quiet faith sustained her throughout her life and she accepted the many challenges in her life with equanimity.
The past years living at Bethania were an experience she valued. It was always encouraging to see her wave and smile at all who surrounded her. The caring and compassion of the staff, over the years and especially during her final hours, was very much appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I’m so sorry to hear that your Mom passed away, Carol She was always taken by my thumb ring and when I would go to help her or give her medications, she always wanted to see my thumb ring, and wondered why I wore a ring on my thumb. I told her I didn’t know why, I just liked it and then we’d both laugh. I wish you and your family strength in the difficult days ahead. - Posted by: Jan Greig (Coworker of Carol ) on: Oct 29, 2019
