EVELYN GOLDEN
April 13, 1916 - October 20, 2019

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Evelyn Golden on October 20, 2019, at the age of 103.
Evelyn was born in Winnipeg on April 13, 1916 to parents, Hinda and Samuel Goldin. After graduating from St. John's Tech she became a legal secretary. Evelyn and our father Norman Moss were married in Winnipeg on June 15, 1940 and honeymooned in Banff. They moved from Winnipeg to Calgary where Dad established his dental practice after serving in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. Evelyn was active in Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women, and the Sisterhood of Beth Israel Synagogue in Calgary. She taught Sunday school at the synagogue and volunteered for many years at the Calgary Children's Hospital. A terrific homemaker who played a mean game of gin rummy and was equally adept at poker.
Evelyn and Norman raised three sons in Calgary. After Norman's untimely passing in 1970, Evelyn moved back to Winnipeg and subsequently married Don Golden. She was well travelled and played tennis and golf into her nineties at the Glendale Golf and Country Club in Winnipeg.
Evelyn leaves to mourn her loss, sons, Leslie and Mortie Moss (Ellise); grandchildren, Neri (Tai), Barbra, Jessica, and Rhees; and great-granddaughter Annika, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by son Richard; sisters, Bertha Golden, Esther Rubenstein, Florence Zinman, Ruthie Goldin; brother Mickey Goldin; and husbands, Norman Moss and Don Golden.
The family wishes to thank staff at the Simkin Centre for their care. Trudy Ablao, Evelyn's caregiver was a tremendous support for the last six years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Chesed Shel Emes, 1023 Main Street.
Meal of Consolation at Simkin Centre, 1 Falcon Ridge Drive at 1:00 p.m.
