Unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2019, Michel (Mitch) Daignault passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 43 years old.
Mitch leaves behind his loving parents, Denis (Chico) and Diane; his brother Rob; son Zachary and Tracy; as well as his Aunt Yvette David; his cousins; and his dog Lucy. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ernest and Antoinette Daignault and George and Lucienne Chevrefils; and many other loving family members.
Mitch was born on October 2, 1976 in Winnipeg at the St. Boniface Hospital and was raised in Transcona. Upon graduating from Transcona Collegiate Institute, he started his life passion for helping people by becoming a paramedic. His career started in Pine Falls then moved onto Selkirk and ending in Winnipeg due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes. As a result, he was retrained and graduated from Red River College with honours in business administration. After graduation, he continued to work with the city at the Winnipeg Parking Authority. Further complications prevented him from continuing to work. One of the many highlights of his career as a paramedic, Mitch received letters of commendations, taught CPR and did many hours of volunteering throughout the community.
As a teenager, Mitch played tier hockey as a goalie. He enjoyed playing baseball, curling, ice fishing and poker. As a young man, he had the tradition spending May long weekends with all his friends at the cabin. In recent years, he spent many hours playing cards and board games with this family at the cottage.
We wish to thank the staff at The Dialysis Unit at Seven Oaks and the staff at 4A South at St. Boniface for their tremendous care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Diabetes Canada.
A celebration of Mitch's life will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Oxford Heights Community Club, 359 Dowling Avenue East in Transcona.

Mitch, your time with us was short; and we will forever miss you, until we meet again!
