FELICIA JANE CHWARTACKI
(GIBSON)
October 4, 1928 - October 5, 2019

Felicia, at the age of 91, completed her long journey in Qualicum Beach, BC, October 5, 2019.
She was born in Sioux City, Iowa. At the age of three, Felicia, Marqurite and Portor Gibson moved back to Manitoba, living first in Ste. Agathe then later in St. Boniface.
Felicia's journey was marked by events that forged her character and determined her course. She lost her father when she was three years old, then spent some good years with her mom, whom she remembered with much love. As it happened, she then lost her mom when she was seven years old.
After the loss of her parents, Felicia set out on her own course. She lived with extended family, but from an early age made her own way in this world. She met Bill, the love of her life, while they were both working at a Globelite Batteries. After marrying Bill, Felicia settled into domestic life, first looking after the home and then raising their daughter Lynn. Felicia and Bill were married for over 50 years. Throughout their time together they were part of the Chwartacki clans' many family activities. Bill passed in 2003 and Felicia mourned his loss until the end of her own journey.
Felicia's early experiences and striking out on her own helped her to develop some lifelong values. She was always independent and outspoken. She had a deep appreciation and fierce love for her family. Felicia was so proud of her daughter Lynn, whom she watched grow into a kind, beautiful and successful woman. Felicia adored her son-in-law Scott, and Lynn's friends, Pam and Liz who she treated as her own daughters. Felicia had a special relationship with her granddaughter Emma.
Felicia lived independently until the end of her journey where she passed peacefully after a short illness. Her beloved family remained by her side until the end.
Felicia's family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
Felicia will be interred at Brookside Cemetery in the spring with Bill and her father Portor in Winnipeg.
Charitable donations may be made in memory of Felicia to CancerCare Manitoba or the Qualicum Beach Cat Rescue.
