Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • I had the privilege of being close to John for the last two years of his life. We were friends before that but became very close and I can honestly say he was a example of toughness and positive attitude. It was not all bad we had a lot of laughs right up to the end! He did not deserve the hand he was dealt but I will say he always had a smile on his face not matter what they put him through. He was a blessed man to have Carol around to help him through some of the toughest trials anyone can go through! He also was blessed with friends from work and outside work that visited him during his illness. John was the reason I moved to where I live now and I just wish we could have had some time on the deck together. RIP my friend you will be missed and remembered. - Posted by: Ken Shaw (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2019

  • My condolences to John's family. I have known John for over 30 years. It is with great sadness that I heard of his passing. John and I met working midnite shifts for Safeway many years ago. Later while we both were working for Safeway in rural western Manitoba we became better friends. I will always remember the yearly trips we took to Calgary for the Safeway annual meetings. We solved many problems with our group of rural managers in our hotel rooms over a few drinks. John always had a story or two to tell over the trials of working for demanding and often opposing district and operations managers. John was always willing to share his experience and insights with you to help you achieve your goals. We often shared info and helped each out in many ways while we were managing our stores. You could always depend on John for help, advice, or a funny story to help you through your day. I am thankful I was able to get together for lunch with him and Ken and Harry over the last year or 2. And later to visit John while he was at the St Boniface and Victoria Hospitals. I will certainly miss him and his friendship. Rest in Peace John. - Posted by: Will Tabas (Co worker, friend) on: Oct 28, 2019

Again, our deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Brian and Liz Cieszynski (Co-worker/friend) on: Oct 28, 2019
