TERRY ROSS
Terry was predeceased by his parents, Glo and Stu Ross, and his adored stepdaughter Lisa Lyall.
Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Debbi, stepson Miles (Danna), son-in-law Devin, adored grandchildren, Carys and Jack; his siblings, Susan (Darren), Don (Dorothy) and Brad; nieces and nephews, Corey, Dawn, Justin, Ross, Gage and Shae, and their spouses and children; his best friend Dave Martin and Terry's little dog Benny who continues to sit by Terry's chair.
Terry and Dave were instrumental in the growth of field lacrosse in Manitoba and together they pioneered the high school field lacrosse league and the junior provincial program, culminating in a national championship (gold) for Manitoba with Terry as coach.
Terry's stellar hockey career took him from East Elmwood Community Club to the University of Winnipeg Wesmen where his picture hangs on the Wall of Fame. Locally he played for St. Boniface Mohawks and East Kildonan Millionaires, played in Austria and back home drafted by Atlanta Flames and the WHA's Winnipeg Jets as backup goalie for Joe Daley.
Terry's love of the game continued to old timers with the Orioles and most recently with the Winnipeg Old Club right up until his passing.
A man of few words with an incredible knowledge of music and books, his pleasure was living a simple and quiet life, always with book in his hand and his dog by his side.
Respecting Terry's wishes, a private Celebration of Life was held at Terry's home.

Sending my deepest condolences to Debbie and Miles and family, I first met Terry back in the 80's, we went to Acapulco together, wild 2 weeks, played guitar, listened to music, later played fastball together and played some hockey against each other a number of years later. As much as my sadness is strong, there is a smile on my face from all the good memories and laughter, met some nice people through Terry, again great memories. Those thoughts will stay with me. RIP T man!!! Vaya con Dios..... Jeff Krause - Posted by: Jeff Krause (Friend / teammate) on: Nov 06, 2019

At General Wolfe Junior High School Terry Ross took a bunch of West End kids under his wing and made us feel important and cherished. We were like one big family. He encouraged us to do anything we wanted to do and we did. We travelled in and out of province, played sports under his guidance, went to movies and plays and many other group activities. Most importantly, Mr Ross made learning fun and exciting. He was a teacher I will never forget. - Posted by: Earleen Irvine (Former Student) on: Nov 04, 2019

So sorry to learn of Terry's passing. "T" was one of the truly good guys I had the privilege to know in the lacrosse community as a teammate, fellow coach and organizer . . . having collaborated - along with his buddy, Dave Martin, and other teachers who shared a passion for our national game - in forming the high school field lacrosse league during the mid-1980s. Terry was humble and genuine, a team-first guy who always greeted you with a friendly smile and made you feel welcome. Sincere condolences to Terry's family and close friends. God bless you T. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Dave Gillis (Lacrosse alumni) on: Nov 03, 2019

I mostly knew Terry through email, having only met him once at the MTA. He was always enthusiac when reaching out to me for content for the WCHN quarterly magazine. My relationship with Terry lasted five or 6 years I believe. He was genuinely a thankful individual. - Posted by: Darryl Nanka (Work Related) on: Nov 02, 2019

I was saddened to hear of Terry's passing. I played hockey with Brad and I remember Don as a fellow student at Elmwood High. I remember going to the Ross's home several times when Terry was home. I recall Terry as being very kind and having a great sense of humor. My condolences to all the family in your time of loss. Hold on to the memories of the good times and to each other. Rest in Peace Terry. - Posted by: Aubrey Settee (friend) on: Nov 02, 2019
