Ellen was born to Carl and Magda Martinuseen on March 16, 1946 in Swan River. Ellen was raised on the family farm with her four brothers and three sisters. After graduating high school she moved to Winnipeg to pursue her dream of nursing. She received her LPN nursing degree at St. Boniface Hospital in 1966. While nursing in Easterville in 1970 she met her husband Ken and they were married on December 18, 1971 in Gonor. Ellen moved to Grand Rapids to work with Ken to run their business and raise their sons. In 1983 they moved to Winnipeg where Ellen restarted her nursing career as a home care nurse. In 1991 Ellen graduated from Red River Community College as a registered nurse. Ellen worked at Deer Lodge Centre and Middle Church Personal Care Home. After retiring in 1999 Ken and Ellen spent many winters travelling in their RV to Texas, Arizona and Florida where she loved to entertain, golf and have a great time with their southern family. Ellen loved spending quality time with her seven grandchildren at the family cottage in Buffalo Point and their home in East St. Paul. She enjoyed a great game of golf, cooking for family celebrations and enjoying family and friends.
