MARY STEVENS
(nee LISTMAYER)
September 4, 1926 - October 27, 2019
Mary was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth; brothers, Matthew, Fred and Joe; and sisters, Clara and Barbara.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Mike; brother Steve; and sisters, Eva, Annie (Emery Friesen), Beth (Morris Farquhar), and Sylvia (Clive Mason).
The third of 11 children, Mary was born and raised in Clarkleigh, Manitoba. As a young woman, she left home to live and work in Winnipeg. She and her sister Eva were roommates for several years, and they enjoyed an active social life with family and friends, too numerous to count.
Mary wedded Michael Stevens on July 15, 1975 and they spent the best years of their lives together, travelling to their winter home in Texas and making lifelong friends. Although shy by nature, Mary was very hospitable and loved to entertain at home. She was a devoted wife, a dear aunt and great-aunt, an accomplished cook, and a talented knitter and crocheter.
As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mary was an effective teacher of the Bible and she enjoyed a public ministry right to the end. Sharing God's promise of a resurrection strengthened her faith and this happy hope comforts all who knew and loved her.
In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held to remember her.
