Wife, mother, artist, grandmother, great-grandmother, good friend, quiet loving spirit. Born in West Kildonan on February 17, 1926, the first of her family born in Canada, she attended the Centennial School. Glady worked at Eaton's downtown store where she met Michael Tomlinson. Family folklore has it they met under the gaze of the Timothy Eaton statue. Mike and Glady were married in 1950. Coming full circle, a little later in life, she worked again for Eaton's Polo Park in the ladies' shoe department where she made lifelong friends. Mike and Glady happily resided in Headingley for more than 50 years. She was an active member of the community, Headingley United Church, and was a regular blood donor.
Thank you to all the 1 North and 1 East staff at Oakview for their excellent and loving care which sustained Mom and her family for many years.
In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Gladys, donate blood, sing, dance and create beauty.
Funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Wednesday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. Public viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service.
