DONNA MARIE NEWTON
April 9, 1959 - October 30, 2019
Donna was born on April 9, 1959 in Montreal, Quebec where her family lived for several years. Her early years were spent in Dartmouth, NS before moving to Stony Mountain in 1966. Donna attended elementary school in Stony Mountain and high school in Selkirk.
Operating her own business, D's Leatherworks, in Winnipeg for a number of years allowed her to combine her creative talents and her love for Harley motorcycles in her unique creations. She loved the freedom of riding her custom Harley and the friends she met who shared her passion.
Donna was predeceased by her parents, Douglas Newton (1982) and Patricia Newton (2017), her brother Donald (1978), and her ex-husband Guy (Fig) Newton.
She is survived by her daughter Ashleigh, brother Robert, sisters, Patti, Jacquelynn, Carolynn and their families.
In accordance with Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place with no formal service at this time. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
Flowers gratefully declined. Donations to a women's shelter in Donna's name were her wish.
Rest In Peace Donna.
We hope you are riding free!

The moment I moved to Winnipeg, I needed my moto leather jacket repaired. I looked thru the yellow pages and came upon D's Leather on Main. I went there and Donna spoke of her husband Fig and that I can store my Harley at their place during winter. I was shocked at their acceptance of me, their friendliness, I was shocked. The two became friends/family and we had many gatherings and events we all went to. I will never forget how good they were to me and the leather work on my jackets and bike seats that Donna did for me. I love the both of them dearly and hope the two are together in heaven riding and enjoying. Thanks for the sharing of time in your life and acceptance of me! - Posted by: joe marton (friend) on: Mar 02, 2025

Very sad to hear this news. I was searching the internet to find my old friend. My condolences to all her family and friends. I new Donna very well for a brief time. The last time I saw her was at her wedding in mid 80's. I told her I loved her and wished her well. I've been living in BC since. We had some very intense adventures together and were like brother and sister during the wildest times. We moved to Edmonton at one point and lost touch after I left. I was 15 when I met her (1978) and she looked out for me as a street kid later I looked out for her. I was known as "JR" and other nicknames but she always called me Paul and she knew I had older sisters who I didn't have a relationship with because of my lifestyle and stood in for them. We were wild and young. I have many good things to say about her and wished I had found her before she passed. RIP sis, I remember it all. - Posted by: Paul Mignot (Old friend from the 70's and 80's) on: Sep 04, 2022

I met Donna while going to boarding school. I even met Ashleigh while she was unable to pronounce Carol…. I was called Killer which is odd as I’m the most pascifistic person. I only just learned that Donna died. I so loved her but knew that we needed space. I thought that our distance wAs due to time…not death. I so miss her. All of my non school friends from then are gone. Grant, Fig, Paul…life sucks - Posted by: Carol Seaton (Good friend) on: Mar 16, 2022

Donna had a long standing friendship with my sister Tracy that began in the early years, and often she would be at our home visiting. I remember Donna with a smile, because what I remember most about her, was her beautiful smile and very infectious laugh, and always that twinkle in her eyes. A kind and compassionate soul now at rest and peaceful. My heart goes out to all the family and friends that loved Donna. - Posted by: Roxanne (Friend of Jacquelynn) on: Nov 25, 2019
