September 4, 1928 - November 11, 2019
Preciosa was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Diamantino Fernandes, her parents, and five siblings.
Preciosa was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Maria America (Jose Cortez), her son Roger (Anna), her grandchildren, Robert (Debby), Tania (Alex), Kyle and Chantelle; great-grandchildren, Emily, Mia and Gabriella. She will be missed by family and friends both in Winnipeg and Portugal.
Preciosa was born in Urqueira, Portugal. Immigrating in 1965 to Canada with her husband and young family to settle in Winnipeg. In Winnipeg, Preciosa's first job was in a factory, then at a local supermarket and bakery. In 1975, she and her husband became owner-operators of Portuguese Fish and Food Market. Preciosa was a hard worker and loved her job as cashier and operating the store until she retired in 1992. She enjoyed her retirement home in Portugal for a few years, moving back to Winnipeg in 2003 to be with family. She loved spending time with her grandkids and socializing with friends and family.
The family sends a great big thank you to the staff of Unit 1 at St. Joseph's Residence for their superb care and support.
Prayer service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. both at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street with Rev. Fr. Andre Lico officiating. Interment to follow in her hometown of Urqueira, Portugal next to her beloved spouse.
