DAVID CHARLES PROCTER

Peacefully, on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at Oakview Place.
David was born in Winnipeg on August 20, 1937 to Gertrude (née Rohloff) and Harry Procter. The youngest of six children, David valued family, church and community, as was apparent throughout his life.
David was a dedicated volunteer with Winnipeg Harvest and as such, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. In 2012 he was presented the Lieutenant Governor's Make a Difference Community Award also in recognition of his commitment to Winnipeg Harvest where he had volunteered full-time since 1990.
Among David's interests were walking, reading, bowling, lawn bowling, painting, music and listening to hockey games on the radio. He had a good sense of humour and quietly appreciated the funny side of life. As a lifelong supporter of the NDP, he worked on numerous election campaigns. David enjoyed his two years at Oakview Place, taking part in as many activities as he was able. Over the past year, he faced health challenges with courage and determination.
He is survived by his sister Margaret Snyder (Walter) of Toronto; and brothers, George (Marjorie) and Richard, both of Calgary. He is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Walter; and by sisters-in-law, Margaret, Sharon and Lorraine.
Heartfelt thanks must be given to all those who provided care and comfort to David, in particular, the staff of Oakview Place, and a very special thank you to Brad Nance, David's faithful friend of 10 years, and to Rev. Mark Satterly whose visits David appreciated.
Friends and family are invited to join us in celebrating David's life on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Kildonan United Church, 187 Kilbride Avenue with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Kildonan United Church would be appreciated.
